TAS-member thread for February 2009: Ibercivis and Magnetism@Home:

We will pass 500 000 credits in Magnetism@home within a few hours: Status now: total credit 499,859 credits ...
Lets do that one more time, but faster! Faster! FAster! FASter! FASTer! FASTEr! FASTER! 🙂 That is within 10 more days!

My computers don't seem to be very happy with the Ibercivis project for some reason (VERY low scores) so I'm going to switch everything everything back to Magnetism to help get the team to 1 million there. I'm not quite up to 50K in Ibercivis so it won't count for my FreeDC "top" lists stats, but I can finish that off later.

Hmm your observation is interesting.
I have 20 computers crunching Ibercivis and Magnetism@home. The projects have each 50% of the capacity on most computers; two have 9600GT cards and those GPU's crunch seti@home, which means that they take from one CPU 8% of the crunching power.
Considering that all else is equal, I am surprised to see that I have crunched 182K points in Ibercivis and 68.5K points in Magnetism.
One possible reason is though that I can only get 4 WUs at a time , but that should not matter, because as soon as a WU is crunched, the next (4th) will be downloadad.
I think that the way the credits are calcualted matters most.
My experience seems to be the opposite of yours, Fardringle ... but that does not matter, because the TeAm needs you very much in Magnetism@home! 😀

I'm not sure why, but I was only getting about 3000 points per day on Ibercivis even over the weekend when my computers run 24/7 instead of just during non-business hours on week days. I'll do my best to help the team catch up on the Magnetism project. 🙂

I am working on getting my Rosetta@home score up some, but since the TeAm needs a little boost to hit the 1 million mark I've moved half my production onto Magnetism. As Leeroy would say, "come on chums, lets do this!"

This isn't a full stats update, but I wanted to take a look at how the team is doing on both projects so I figured I might as well post the numbers here. 🙂

We are currently at 591K in Magnetism. We need to do 41K per day to make it to 1 million by the end of the month. The team average over the past 10 days is 19.5K.

We are currently at 698K in Ibercivis. We need 30K per day to get to 1 million. The team average over the past 10 days is 33.3K.

I just moved my computers from Ibercivis (where I was getting about 3K per day) back to Magnetism (where I was getting about 10K per day before I switched to Ibercivis), and Alyx put some computers on Magnetism as well so that will help but it's going to be close...

OK - I know that this may not be the right place for this post. I looked in the right place, and there was no help. I am asking you guys because I know that you are knowledgable and will try to help me if you can.

I need a driver for a TrendNET TEW-423pi 802.11g wireless card that uses a Marvell 88W8335-TGJ chipset. I have looked all over the internet, and the driver I need is the Libertas CB-35P/MB-35P v. 3.1.1.7 driver from Marvell. Every link that I have tried sends me to the Marvell website, and the page is no longer available. There appears to be no way to get the driver from Marvell -- maybe it's too old.

Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have been to that site -- the latest driver that they have for that card is designed around card versions that have a Texas Instrument chip set.

However, I haven't checked the site to see if they have older driver versions available.

I should do that.

Thanks.

I think this is the driver you are looking for. According to some quick searching, version B1.1R is the one with the Marvell chipset, and the driver in this link is for that revision of the card.

No problem, RL can also be a lot of fun ... 😉 Enjoy! 🙂

We're up to 755K on Ibercivis and 723K on Magnetism. With 10 day averages of 26.5K on Ibercivis and 27.4K on Magnetism (it's 42K per day since Alyx and I rejoined), we will hit 1 million on both projects but not until a few days into March.

If we don't get some extra help from a "secret" benefactor, we may have to extend this month's projects a few extra days before we switch to something new.

Sorry it took me a while to put up points, stupid boinc was keeping 8 days of Rosetta work waiting and never did any Magnetism, got it fixed now though. 🙂

Shoot .... I have a problem with my main computer ... with all the current files on. 🙁
I do have a backup - but not the time to restore the files and to postthe stats ...

Very sorry - I'll do my best later this week - but the comp just makes me so frustrated when it goes down.

It is a SCSI-Controller problem - I have ordered the spare part, but it will take some time.
OTOH: I have had this controller since january 2003 and it has been working 24/7 since then with 5 HDD, three optical drives and one tape drive ...
I don't even dare to thing about the tera-bytes of data which have been shuffled from one disk to the other, all the daily and weekly backups ...

775K on Ibercivis and 788K on Magnetism now. That's a change of 20K on Ibercivis and 65K on Magnetism since my post yesterday.

If we can manage 60K again, Magnetism will hit 1 million in less than 4 days. It looks like a lot of the points today were from backlogged pending credit, so that probably won't happen again. Our daily average (not counting the 65K today) of 30.5K will put us at 1 million on May 3rd. Since Magnetism does have quite a bit of pending credit, we could probably stop processing at about 950K and still comfortably pass 1 million once our pending credit is validated.

At the current rate of about 25K per day, Ibercivis will hit 1 million on May 5th.
