Thanks. I've played BF2 and forgotten to turn off BOINC. Given the SLI setup (2x 6800 Ultra's), I didn't notice. No complaints, except for the fugly case and scary Alienwaqre service.

I have some three grand in E@H pending credit right now, so I'm fairly comfortable in the top TA five. :)

can you imagine loosing one of those to a OOPS or power glitch after the first 700 hours or so?

Sounds like they kind of missed the mark on breaking a job down into manageable pieces.

But a challenge is a challenge.... I WILL do one of those some day... just to say that I did.

I already thought of that and thus backup my BOINC folder every 24 hours over my LAN. ;)

Open the gfx for CPDN and look for the line "CPU Time" in the lower left corner. At the end of the line it will say something like "(X.XX s/TS). That's how many seconds you need for a timestep. A sulphur model consists of over 750,000 timesteps, you can easily calculate how much time - on average - you'll need for the model. In your case I'd assume about 60 days or so.

:)

that stinks. for some reason, i didn't think these would be the kind of wu that would crah or error.

mine is about 4-1/2 hours into it. i am only giving it 20% of one rig.

i thought you just started yours like the day before i? 80 hours lost. did it trickle some reults for you so you got some credit?

edit- i see now, you got 366 points. bummer.

Yes, three trickles = about 600 points. I claimed 1000, though. Looks like the last trickle was already damaged. :(

I did a lot of reading on the CPDN forums today and they're full of problems like that. All the CPDN guys say is: "your computer is faulty." Yeah, right. Some posts speak of a sulphur failing rate of 80% and I don't hink that 80% of all computers running CPDN are fubared. Especially because they always say that they don't have any probs with other BOINC DC projects. Ah well, I'm degressing ...

I will try three sulphur models for CPDN. If they all fail, good bye CPDN.

edited as this is a family show :p

anyway, i'll keep an eye on mine. i seriously don't think they'll get a second chance with me. how can they be giving out 800 hour wu's that have a chance of failing? just the very nature of the project i wouldn't think there'd be much of a failure rate.

but wth do i know.

... All the CPDN guys say is: "your computer is faulty." ...

The Microsoft philosophy applied to DC projects... ya gotta love that! :disgust:

Hang in there BMC..... Some where down the road this can be one of the "I remember when..... conversations"
