When I hear someone start to breathe heavily just because talking to me takes away their supply of oxygen or getting up from their chair to go throw away their empty big gulp from lunch, I definitely lose respect for them.

Why, because they made a different life choice than you did? I doubt that person cares that they lost the respect of someone who would judge them solely on the basis of their appearance.

And just to prove it, would you lose respect for someone who starts breathing heavily because they're a heavy smoker who goes over to put out their cigarette in an ash tray? Let's say the smoker is incredibly thin.

If so, the same question applies, why do you think you can judge someone else's life decisions to the point where you lose respect for them as a person?

1) Most people with obesity problems are born big, so that makes no sense.

lolwut?

They are obese because the keep shoving their faces with unhealthy food and do not even exercise. They aren't born fat, that is retarded. How about they get off their fat asses and work out, and also go on a diet. Instead, fat people get fatter because instead of exercising, they buy a freaking handicap mobile to cart themselves around.

Obese people should be shamed. Shamed off airplanes, shamed out of public places. Maybe then people will realize it's not okay being a giant whale and do something about it.

If I see someone smoking I generally look down on them and associate them with white trash.

If I see someone smoking I generally look down on them and associate them with white trash.

So the thousands and thousands of influential people who have greatly improved modern science, medicine and technology are white trash simply because they choose to smoke cigarettes?

Seriously?

but being a fatass is good for nobody except the food industry who rakes in millions from them.

by fatasses being "different" you mean they are "lazy" because they don't want to take care of themself. and i'm talking about the 99.999999999999999999999% of them that don't have glandular/thyroid problems.
"B-b-but it's my glands!!!"

Yep. You eat yourself into obesity. It doesn't just happen, or is "in your genes".

The stigma against women who aren't a size 0 is really getting fucking disgusting and old, time to grow up.

The pressures put on some women to fit in and look exactly like the unrealistic models that bludgeon everyone on a daily basis are completely unfair and yield tragic results in some cases. Why is it so hard for some of you to just accept that people are different and not have to elevate yourself above someone else in order to feel good about yourselves?

Because it's good business. Only by bombarding people with the message that they are inadequate through magazines, television and media can they be made to spend their money on cosmetics and makeups and hair sprays that temporarily make them feel better while lining pockets and creating profit. If there was not a problem, there could be no profit in selling a solution.

i do feel bad for the kids who get obese because "its in their genes" and by that i mean their parents are lazy fatasses that feed their kids the same slop that they eat all while they are growing up, and since they are kids they don't know any better.

Well, obviously weight gain/loss is a simple energy balance. However, a person's base metabolism stems from genetics mostly.

Just as you know people who stay thin despite eating fast food and soda all the time, there are going to be people who are fat despite eating relatively well. Yes, if they exercise enough they will burn enough calories to lose weight, but the amount of effort require from person to person differs greatly.

A lot of skinny people are skinny due to genetics and would be fat otherwise, so I don't see why skinny people often act is if they are less lazy when really they just won the lottery. Plenty of fat people eat better and exercise more than plenty of skinny people, but stay fatter due to their base metabolism being so shitty.

If you are fit, healthy, and exercise a lot, sure you could have a reason to look down on a fat person, but is that really why you push yourself so hard? So you can feel better about yourself and belittle others? Why wouldn't you try to help a fatty out?

If the plus-size folk boycott Target because of this, does that mean more room to walk around the store?

This is all fine and dandy, however, even people with "bad genes" still need to monitor their diet by tracking macronutrients and calories. If you have a "slow metabolism", then you need to eat less, plain and simple.

You also tend to learn your parents' lifestyles.
Parents who sit in front of the TV all day are teaching their kids that that's what you do. You learn that a regular meal consists of 5 servings of starch and cheese. You go grocery shopping with your parents and learn that pre-packaged processed food is cheaper and keeps longer than fresh produce. Etc.

Anyone who doesn't think genetics or gland issues can cause issues with weight gain or weight loss is really ignorant. Metabolism, especially is a major factor in how your body reacts to food. I know guys and girls who are thin that could easily put away a large pizza by themselves and the food goes nowhere. On the other hand, take someone who doesn't have such an awesome metabolism and a 6 inch from subway could equal 3 pounds of weight gain.

Yes, maintaining your weight is a personal issue...but being heavy-set isn't always because you sat by the TV eating tubs of Mayonnaise.

Sure it is if they want to lose weight, but for some people it is not easy and requires a much greater level of effort than normal. Is is really 'lazy' to fail at that point?

Many skinny or normal people would be in the same situation had they the same genes, yet they act as if they are making a greater conscious effort to remain healthy when really the work was done before they were even born.

Take into other considerations things like wealth where all these rich girls who don't have to work and instead jog/do yoga all day and can shop at Whole Paycheck for every meal start judging a poor woman working 2-3 jobs who just wants to rest when she gets home.

Yes, not all cases are like that. I just don't think being non-fat is something to feel superior about, and I don't think belittling others to boost your own ego is the right thing to do. Like I said, if there is a fatty who is just fat cause they stuff their face with cheetos all day, why not try to help them not stuff their face with cheetos rather than just point, laugh, and say "thank god I don't look like that".

On the other side, I also don't agree with the fat pride movement or with thin-shaming. "That girl needs a sandwich" comments are just as offensive as "put down the kfc fatty". I find it wrong that people feel it is okay to comment on how a skinny person eats but not okay to comment on how a fat person eats. In either case, comments like that are unnecessary and shouldn't be said.

Many Skinny people are abusive with food...but they are not shamed because they are lucky enough to be able to put away thousands of Calories with no visible effects.

There are also many skinny people who have worse health than these so called "Mantees".

It could be laziness, it could be that they're misinformed, they could genuinely have "a thyroid problem". Combine those, and surround them with processed, high calorie food that is cheaper than raw food. Compound it over a few decades. You end up with what America is today.

So, what I'm saying, is that people do have control over their body weight and body fat percentage. But, they need to be informed, motivated, and they need to get checked out by a doctor for potential pre-existing conditions.

It is a multifaceted, and very complicated, problem. But it does ultimately boil down to diet.

that is just total bullshit.

there is no way a 6inch sub at subway with, let's even be generous, 500 calories, could translate into 3lbs.

spouting shit like that you really have no basis to call someone ignorant.

lmao

I was just making a point that eating food can have different effects on people. It doesn't matter about the amount, some people just gain weight from eating food and some don't.

What are you so mad for? I'm pretty sure a large pizza doesn't translate into 3lbs either. 🙄

Are you denying that there are people out there that could put away pounds of food with no consequence and then there are people who gain weight no matter how much food they put away?

You'll probably find that the skinny people don't go home after the pizza and scarf a pint of ice cream.

They also do it less often than their gravitationally challenged friends.

I highlighted the relevant word there. Unless you are arguing there has been a massive metabolic genetic change in the last 50 years this is not the reason why most people are fat.

Says who?

Skinny people can't abuse food?

See, thats what I am talking about. Misconceptions about people who are "gravitationally challenged".

You think people who aren't skinny eat all day and then go home and eat some more?

That is a harsh generalization.

not the reason why most people are fat.

And how do you know that? How could you know that? We'd have to test thousands of people.

lmao

no i was simply stating that you are spouting off a bullshit example.

obviously there are varying metabolisms out there, and that is what explains what you think is some weird phenomenon. all that means is that the person with a slower metabolism needs to use some discipline to not eat more food than needed.

Just because skinny people can abuse food and remain skinny doesn't mean it's okay for a fat ass to abuse food knowing it'll make them fatter. Maybe they got dealt a bad hand when being born with a lower metabolism, but it does not excuse them from becoming obese. They may have to work harder but it's still on them. Being obese isn't okay.

Just like some selected people are luckily born into rich ass families and their lives are set while others have to work to make a living. It isn't okay being an unemployed bum just because some other kid got born into a rich family. Fatasses are still responsible for themselves, there are zero excuses for being obese.

So the thousands and thousands of influential people who have greatly improved modern science, medicine and technology are white trash simply because they choose to smoke cigarettes?

Seriously?

Be honest, you have a fat wife don't you? :whiste:

Fine. A fat person and a skinny person eat a large pizza.

The fat person is called a slob because of the physical consequences to their gluttony while the skinny person receives accolades for being a glutton because the food doesn't seem to go anywhere.

^ That is bullshit.
