Fine. A fat person and a skinny person eat a large pizza.

The fat person is called a slob because of the physical consequences to their gluttony while the skinny person receives accolades for being a glutton because the food doesn't seem to go anywhere.

^ That is bullshit.

Skinny person exercises to zero out the extra calories

And how do you know that? How could you know that? We'd have to test thousands of people.

Because of the increase in overweight people over the last 50 years.

well i've never heard anyone say that other than you just now, so i can't really comment on that.

but if that actually happened, then the skinny person obviously knows their metabolism and what they can consume without gaining weight, and the fat person obviously knows their metabolism but doesn't give a shit. and to me, when i see a fat person that doesn't give a shit, that juts screams lazy and someone i don't have respect for (lazy people).

And where on that chart does it give you an indication of what people might be affected by genetics or gland issues?

That was what I asked you.

Yes.

I can squat 450 pounds. I think its a reasonable assumption I don't sit around all day doing nothing.

Oh, well I didn't know you represent the lifestyle choices every skinny person in the US makes.

This thread title brought to you by the dept. of redundancy dept.

Why, because they made a different life choice than you did? I doubt that person cares that they lost the respect of someone who would judge them solely on the basis of their appearance.

And just to prove it, would you lose respect for someone who starts breathing heavily because they're a heavy smoker who goes over to put out their cigarette in an ash tray? Let's say the smoker is incredibly thin.

If so, the same question applies, why do you think you can judge someone else's life decisions to the point where you lose respect for them as a person?

Kind of, yes. People judge others who don't make the lifestyle choices they approve of. We all do it. I'm sure you do too.

Obesity, smoking, cheating on their spouse, abandoning their family, nudists, eating meat, being vegan, wearing fur, keeping pets, going to church, not going to church, liking rap music, liking country music, having a foot fetish, being gay, alcoholism.

Chances are there's someone out in the world you judge because of one of those things.

I mean, it's not hard to see that you like making cracks at vegetarians. This took 2 seconds to find via google.

Re: hug a vegetarian day
not too hard though, you'll break every bone in their bodies.

So you've never heard a skinny person be complimented on how they can eat so much and not gain weight? Or compliments on how fast their metabolism is?

How is one case "not giving a shit" and the other case is knowing your limits?
Both people know how their body will react to the food...yet, they both don't give a shit and they smash a whole pizza.

My point is, you can't hold someone accountable for abusing food but give someone else a pass because they aren't overweight from abusing food or being "lazy".

ROFL, when do skinny people receive accolades for eating pizza? It could be a regular meal for them and for the majority of people who aren't fat, it's because they work out and stay in shape. And they don't go home and stuff their faces with a tub of ice cream.

I've been to my gym for five years, there are usually more fit people there than fat people. Now the fatties who stuck it out and worked out constantly? They got slimmer over time and are now fit as well. It's a life style, they knew it was harder for them but they didn't make excuses, the worked harder. It's not a coincidence, obese people are lazier.

So, all skinny people work out regularly and don't abuse food whatsoever?

And in what way does your little anecdote prove that you said. Yes, people go to the gym. That's a fact...but are you honestly going to say that all skinny people are skinny because they work out?

Re: hug a vegetarian day

That's... rather creepy. What search term did you use to find that in 2 seconds on google?

You're stretching that pretty fucking hard to make a non-point too. I never said I don't respect vegetarians or look down on them, I have 6 of them in my family and they all have incredibly poor nutrition as do a lot of vegetarians because they don't get all the nutrients they should be as a result of their lifestyle choice.

That was what I asked you.

Assume every person in the 1976-1980 group was fat because of "gland issues". Unless you are arguing that there was some kind of massive genetic metabolic change in the children born 25 years later we can safely assume that any fat people beyond this baseline was fat because of lifestyle.

As the number of overweight children more than doubled obviously a majority are fat because of lifestyle.

i haven't heard anyone say anything like that since maybe highschool or college. but if i did, it was people who are thin and workout, and apparently those people don't fit your profile so i am not allowed to use that as an example.

someone who can eat a full pizza and not gain weight is not "abusing" food. they are eating enough to maintain. if they eat less than that, they would lose weight because they aren't eating to maintenance levels.

someone who is fat and eats a full pizza and gains weight from it is eating over maintenance and is lazy/doesnt give a shit that they will get even fatter because they know that will be the outcome.

EDIT:

and of course a fat person would compliment a thinner person for having a faster metabolism. if they had that metabolism, they wouldn't have to change a thing to lose weight and could continue to be lazy as all hell.

I believe that some people are pre-disposed to weight gain and some are not. Obviously, lifestyle choices have a massive effect on weight gain...

Also, not everyone person is pre-disposed to having weight issues either...but denying that this problem exists for people is quite silly.

Some people luck out and have fast metabolisms...some people get the shit stick.

Either way, it will catch up to you at some point. Either now, or when you're old(er).

Well atleast we are in agreement that people aren't just skinny because they work out everyday. :colbert:

anandtech.com platypus vegan.

First result for me. I didn't even have to try smoker, gay, cheat, alcoholic, homeless. It would be creepy if I spent all afternoon sifting through posts, but I literally spent 5 seconds on the search.

You may not "look down on them" but you make cracks at their expense. Manatee grey, break a vegetarian with a hug day... they're not exactly the same, but they're not exactly opposite ends of the spectrum.

Different people have their different sensitivities. My wife can't stand Weird Al Yankovic because of how he holds Harvey the Wonder Hamster, then the camera cuts to him holding a stuffed hamster that he then throws in the garbage. Her sensitivity is to animal abuse, even when it is an obviously silly joke. Yours seems to be obesity. Or manatees. It's certainly not vegetarians though.

If you want to talk about poor nutrition, 100% of obese people have poor nutrition. The same is certainly not true about vegetarians.

Also a single pizza won't make anyone fat. That skinny person probably went back to chicken and salad for dinner the next night.

true that. it's okay to splurge every now and then. the key is moderation.

hell right now i'm leaning up and every weekend i eat taco bell or chipotle. that's my cheat day for all the discipline i have during the week.
