This thread does nothing but reinforce the fact that there are too many people in the country who are so narrow minded to think that everything is a plot by the governmnet.... The same people that think I should open my eyes and see that this administration is in the process of becoming a dictatorship need to take their own blinders off and see things for what they are...

Even though there was a very real explanation for why the vehicles were there, people still incist that there were alterior motives... I am just glad that I'm not that stricken with hate to have such tunnel vision.

LOL this thread is dumb. There might have been a story if the tanks had rolled over some protesters, but unfortunately no protesters were harmed in the making of the video. :camera:

Looks like we have a Dave Jr on our hands.

Takes a headline, twists it up for his purposes and makes it seem legit.

The OP probably only looked at the first page and was e-mailed the link.

Notice that many people in the thread jumped to feverent conclusions

Where were the tanks?

I saw not one confirmed report of a tank in any of the stories and related information.

What I'm getting at is that most people (and the press) never take the time to know easy obtainable facts. They often get their military reporting incorrect. While little/no confusion was made by these incidents, I have seen some that were so far over the top as to be WRONG in every sense. This one was amusing, and I would have liked to see their faces when the APC rolled into view.....

Tank is defined as anything that is not civilian/commercial and bigger than a Hummer.

If the media investigated the story, it would not become sensationalist news.
They can not have that; must make the people think that the government is out to destroy the United States of California because they voted for Kerry.

Wow, the helmet on the guy driving the tank looks like something out of Star Wars. No face can be seen, no identity, no pride. Pathetic. That guy should be ashamed of himself.

Sheep indeed :)

As for the video, that barrel is kinda small for a tank. More like an APC/IFV...

Though I'm not surprised those guys wouldn't know what a tank looks like :)

[Edit] You retards...it doesn't even have tracks :)

Upon further review, it's a LAV - vid cap - LAV-25 pics from USMC.mil

It isn an AFV not a tank. But the media in all thier brilliance will say anything that appears armored is a "tank".

It's a helmet and goggles. The goggles are because dirt gets in your eyes on the dirt trails these roll on. The helmet is because it's a rough ride and it's easy to hit your head on things inside

Looks like you miss no opportunity to disparage our troops

Sorry, nice try. If you are going to publicly call Infohawk out as a troll and such you need to have something to back it up. Otherwise, your claims are simply bogus. If you don't have any solid reasons to disparage him I'd think you'd just refrain from doing so.

lol, you think a tanker helmet with goggles looks intimidating, you should see the new gas masks with built in 4th generation night vision. now that will make you think of storm troopers/darth vader.

On your way home today, Open your window and lean out as you drive. You might not bonk your head due to your cars superior handling but I bet you'll wish you had goggles on by the time you get 3 miles.

There's no windshield on these things so it's not like riding in a convertible. Have you ever seen a biker not wearing at least sunglasses?

Anyway, I'm not surprised that's the only part of my post you feel is worth contesting

It was an 8-wheeled vehicle that weighs about 1/4 of a typical 18-wheeler.
