Tanker Melts Freeway!!!

"Coming home is going to be a big big problem," said Geronimo, who commutes to work in San Francisco as draftsman. "Do you know how many terrorists are looking at this? They're getting ideas."

The steel didn't melt - the high temperature makes it softer and it loses its strength. Scary nonetheless.

A lot of folks simply fail to search the boards for 20mins before posting something to make sure it hasn't already been made. Thus, we have duplicate threads =)

oh shutup, i searched for freeway, most obvious search term

if your thread isn't easily searchable, don't complain if it gets reposted. the thread labeled "bay area people" is especially heinous. the real problem is people who in the age of search still don't know how to title things in a searchable way. like all those pics on pics.bbzzdd that have unsearchable gibberish names.

San Mateo bridge(aka SR92) to 101?

EDIT: Looks like south bay people will take 880 north. East bay people are going to be majorly affected. Coming off of 580-W and 24, they'll probably have to take a detour through emeryville. Depending on where the damage is, they could also hit 880 from 24 and come back north. Either way, traffic is going to suck majorly until they get it fixed.

By the way -- I was taking up for you. My post was me being a smart ass. It kills me when people bitch about multiple post. If you've read a thread about "Meting Freeway" and then you click on the "Tanker Melts Freeway!!" thread, why even bother? If you already know the story, then don't bother clicking the thread and taking time to leave a post bitching about it being a duplicate. Thus, I was being a smart ass by saying people don't spend 20min searching for a thread (which is ridiculous) before they post their thread. Moral of the story -- I was taking up for you.

Good Day

if you care - the technical things that occur AFAIK are creep strain and an increase in defects/dislocations/vacancies all of which contribute to the reduction in the tensile strength of the materials (for metals, generally, tensile and compressive strengths are the same). 🙂
