I'm bored, and I'm just thinking of my gf. :) I'm just curious what you guys are thinking about your significant others at the moment. How long have you been going out? How did you ask her/him out or how did he/she ask you out? What kind of things if anything do you do regularly for one another?

Will you do something for valentine's day? Will you go all out and do or get something crazy, or will simply spend nice quality time with each other? If you are college students, how do you work around each others' schedules? Is it tough, is it worth it?

Etc etc etc. Being in a relationship has made me curious of everyone else's. :p

What made you decide to go out? Did you have a relationship based on "wow, she's hot.. i'm gonna ask her out..", or, were you friends, had an extremely good and close friendship, and took the initiative to take it a step further? Do you jump from relationship to relationship or do you look for long lasting ones?

I met my gf about a month into last semester (first semester of first year college) through a friend I made in my english class. I was mainly that person's friend for most of the time, until we all started hanging out a lot more during our breaks between classes. Eventually I ended up stuck with my gf (not gf at the time) alone a couple times... being the non-talkative, not-very-social type of person I am, I was worried about making convo. I was surprised that it was actually alright hanging out with her. We got along in a weird kinda way and it was cool. From that point on we just were casual friends, with our friendship evergrowing.

After a while, we had this thing where I would let her lean on me if I took the bus with her, and stuff like that. The understanding was still we were just friends though, very clearly. But it was just increasing a little all the time, but wasn't spoken about. Eventually it came to the point where it was almost normal for me to have my arm around her while watching a movie or something. And we were getting comments from people, thinking we were a couple.

Eventually it was getting to me, cause I was really getting attached to her, but I had no idea how she felt and I had no idea if she even considered a relationship at all. But 10 days ago, I settled it. :) That 10 days ago was a thursday, and we talked for about 4hrs about the whole thing. I had to have it one way or another, not sometimes cuddly behavior and sometimes regular... it was too screwy for me to keep going on like that. And at the end it was settled, we would have a relationship. :D it didn't click till a while later.. hehe.

But I'm happy now, and she seems to be too. But we have to work it around our schedules, and her school is still her #1 priority, but that's good and I admire that, wish I could do the same. She wants to be a doctor. :)

Anyway, share your experiences. :)

Been married 3 years now. Times have been hard, times have been good. It takes time to take 2 different people who each have their own way of doing everything from how to fold the bath towels properly, to sharing a joint checking account. All i can say, it's been very good to me so far, and things are so easy now. Hope it continues to get better with age.

Currently been with my GF for three years, she is my high school sweet heart. For Valentines day, we'll probably go out to a restaurant to eat. :)

I moved from my tiny home town to Helsinki in 1998. It was a big change for me, and I didn't know anyone here. So, I decided to find friends online :). I left a personal ad in a suitable website in the beginning on 1999, where I told that I was looking for a friend (female friend, but it was NOT my intention to find a GF, just a friend). I got few replies (nothing came of those), but one reply caught my eye. The girl who wrote it seemed to be extremely nice and caring person. And funny too :). Just the kind of person I looked for :). So, we started to exchange mails. That lasted for about a month, then we decided to meet in person. We agreed on a place to meet and told each other what kind of clothes we would be wearing (so we could recognize each other). That was in march-april 1999.

As I waited for her at that day, I saw this EXTREMELY beautiful girl. She matched the description she gave me, and she noticed me. But she didn't pay much attention to me, so I assumed it wasn't her, since she would have recognized me. I remember thinking to myself "She's beautiful! I wonder who she's waiting for...". As few minutes passed, and no-one else fitting the descripiton arrived, I decided that she IS the girl I was supposed to meet. I went over to her and asked for her name, and yes, it was her :)! She had mixed-up the description I gave her, that's why she didn't recognize me.

I fell in love with her at that moment :).

We continued to see each other, and we became close friends. I can honestly say that she was (and still is) my best friend. I sometimes teased her about having a relationship, and we just laughed at it. But there was some truth in those jokes of mine, I was in love with her.

Then, in september I gathered all my courage and told her about my feelings. Only to find out that she already had a boyfriend. She had had one for the entire year. I did know that she had a male-friend, but I didn't know he was her boyfriend. She was afraid to tell me, because she thought it would hurt my feelings. But, we decided to stay friends. We were way too close to abandon one another.

Then, next december, she breaks up from her BF. I decided to do nothing. I knew that if I started to pursue relationship with her right away, I would just scare her away. So I waited. In april, in the steps of the Parliament Building, I asked her to be my girlfriend. And she said yes. After she said yes, we watched the fireworks :). For some reason, there was this huge fireworks taking place. It started about 2 minutes after she said yes. We just stood there holding each other and enjoyed the show.

I know it sounds like straight out from a romantic movie or something, but that's how it happened :).

Right now, she's in northern Finland studying in university of Lapland. She's in the faculty of education. We are having a long-distrance relationship, and we don't see each other as much as we would like to. But we survive :). We love each other too much to let something like this to ruin it.

She's extremely kind and caring person. She has a wonderful sense of humour and she's easy to be with. We never (and I mean never) argue :). And like I said, she's extremely beautiful. I love when we are walking together, and I see how men look at us thinking "why is a gorgerous girl like her with a guy like that?!" ;).

Valentines day is stressful for those who have girlfriends and depressing for those who do not. :)

Not really... when I didn't have a gf, valentine's day was just like another day to me, that's all. But now I can look forward to doing something special for her on that day. :)

nemisis77 thats great man:)

Well for me my significant other is everything I would EVER wish for in a girl.

I've known her for the about 2 years or will be in a few months.....

When I first saw her she was going out with my cousin. This was about 2 years ago. I saw that she was a very good looking girl and my cousin was right. He had also been seeing this other girl before and she too was very good looking. She had good hair, style and was very well presented. You could tell she takes care in her looks. I did notice that she wasn?t wearing much or if any.

She was friendly and seemed nice from what time I did spent with her. She did seem a bit on the quiet side. After seeing her some more when I was out with my cousin over a few months she was much more friendly and such.

Things went bad with her and my cousin and they split up. I had her email address since meeting her a few times just to keep in contact with each other since I had helped her out sometime with some cabling for her fathers hi fi. We kept up the emailing even though she broke up with my cousin.

Its only been the end of August that we have been seeing more of each other. This was just meeting up as friends as we?ve not met with each other for while since her and my cousin broke up. I met her as she goes to a Uni and I was going to that Uni for my open day so we decided to meet up after I had finished my open day.

Ever since that day we just had been seeing more of each other. Got to about 3 months and I realised how much I liked her and how much fun we had together when we went out. So in December I told her how I felt about her and to get everything in the open with her. I had a feeling she liked me and had liked me more then a friend but wanted to know for sure. She was interested in me as more then friends:D Had issues to sort out and some issues before we decided to go out and we still do now....

For now we?ll continue to see each other and take things slowly.

Shes everything to me and we have a great time together. We look good as a couple and we enjoy each others company a lot ^_^. Shes has a great personality and looks to match. It'll be better when I go to Uni as we'll be closer. Shes even up for joining a gym with me as I love to train and she *wants* to train even though she has a great body ;) and CAN definately break it down when we club......

I met my wife in the 2nd quarter of my senior year of HS. She is the first and only woman I've dated. We went out a couple of times throughout HS. I went upstate to colege for a year, though I visited frequently. ;) We got married that next August and have been for 10 years this August.

As usual there are ups and downs. Unfortunately, the last 8 years have been on the down side since she's been battling debilatating, nearly constant, migraine-like headaches. She has lost several jobs and we finally ended up filing Bankruptcy last year.

After years of treatments, pages of medications and one suicide attempt (oh, that was hard :(), she was just diagnosed with a Pituitary Adenoma (tumor) and a Chiari Malformation at the base of her Cerebellum. We are working on getting these treated now. We also found yesterday that she was awarded Disability by the government so that will help on the financial front.

Funny thing, if I could have foreseen this all before we were married I still would have braved it all with her.
