Did anyone in this thread think that maybe the developers would have "fixed" this if it was an issue? After all, it's been like that since the first version.

Yeah, thanks drag. Anyway, many people who don't understand memory leaks file invalid bugs because they think RAM usage = leak. The developers use a LOT of powerful tools (including one called "Purify") to track down potential memory leaks, and work hard to prevent them.

Well it's natural to assume that firebird has memory leaks, after all those programmers that work for free on free software are nothing but hobbyists, hippy pinkos, and amatures. You can't expect them to hold to the same standards as professionals like those that work for MS do. 😛
