Talk about memory leak.

After having my computer on for 36 hours (and Opera on for about the entire day straight), I looked at task manager, and it was taking up 100mb of physical memory, and 150mb of virtual memory (go to view->select columns to see VM usage). I mentioned this to a friend, and he noted that Firefox was taking up 150mb of physical memory and 250mb of VM for him.

:Q

IExplore is worse, though, so I have no problems 🙂

Yeah, i find if you run FF too long, it seems to use more & more & more....not sure why.

But a simple close & reopen fixes it.

And no, using IE is no better, that's for sure.

downsize firefox and resize it, it will at least clear it for the time being but this is not good.

It's no worse, either.

Aphex has it right... i did that and it knocked it down to 14mb but i can watch it tick back up on the task manager... NM its already back up to 36mb

IE's using 30MB on my box. But I've got 768 so I don't really give a rat's ass. 🙂

who tf uses 768? thats like being having 3 legs or something (if you're a dog)

you can only use 768 if you constantly change your avatar.

oh. crap. 😀

FYI, IE, on all day on atot, is using up 34MB of ram right now

Don't you love how people buy 1 gig of ram and then complain when applications actually use it?

Clueless 😛

512 here, so anything over 100 isnt happy by me.

Some 34 MB for 7 tabs in Firefox. And Firefox will leak memory from its private memory space, IE will (possibly) leak memory from the public memory space. closing Firefox will recover all the private memory of the process, closing IE won't free the memory leaked from the public memory space.
On other related topic: at first, Thunderbird (the email client) used some 10 - 16 MB in Task Manager, and minimized used some 800kB (constant while it stays minimize). Now Thunderbird uses like 16MB, minimized is again like <1MB, and then it slowly grows back to some 10+ MB 🙁
