I looked over to see who it was and what I saw was a guy who had to be atleast 6'5", 60+ years old, wearing a sundress, makeup, wig, high heels...the whole bit. He had that long old man face. It freaked me the hell out. I just tossed whatever was left in my box onto the shelf and ran to the back. My ex g/f said she had seen the guy at another local grocery store and he used to shop at the Super Kmart too. I think he would shop at one store for while and then move to another. He also drove soething like a Dodge Lancer and you could see his knees while he was driving...Me and a friend tried to follow him home be we lost him.

During the holiday seasons at Super Kmart they would put boards over the ends of the aisles in the toy department. They would then use the boards to stack even more junk. One day just before I was to get off a customer asked me to get something down from the top shelf. We had these big ladders on wheels that we used to stock the higher shelves and I knew they always kept one in the toy department so I ran to get it. You had to tilt them to get them under the boards...well I was in a hurry and I forgot about this since it wasnt my department and I just started running with it. It slamm the ladder into the boards and I see toys falling around me. I look over just in time to see an entire display of barbie dolls crashing down onto some lady and her kid.

We used to fight over bringing the motorized carts in from the parking lot. I ran to grab one that some obese lady had been using and the seat was drenched in sweat...and it wasnt even hot out.

One of my coworkers who was a not right in the head crapped himself while bagging. There was a trail all the way to the bathroom.

One of the managers was killed by her husband. Something about he found out she was cheating on him so one day while on Lake Michigan in their boat he tossed her overboard.

We caught one of the polish cart pushes passed out in his car while on the clock with an open beer in his hand.

While working delivery at a local restaurant this one lady always complains we get her order wrong. On multiple occasions she has said she wanted pick up when she really meant delivery and swears she said delivery. Then one day she calls in after picking up her order saying it was completely wrong. I took her order and repeated it back to her atleast 2 times.

People never listenn to you over the phone. Ive told people their order will be ready in like 30 minutes and they will show up in 5. Then complain when they have to wait 25 minutes. Or when you ask them for their address and they dont tell you what apartment number they live in, or if they do its not listed on the buzzer. Why do people complain when you tell them you ahve to charge them for stuff like extra shrimp or beef?

Well thats enough for now.

Alright now this is messed up. I grew up in Tinley Park, and I worked at the super KMart there AND I often times saw that man....btw I worked there spring 01 to Fall of 03 and I hated most every minute there. The coworkers were pretty cool, but the customers sucked.

More fun than that: drop change in the urinal in the employees' bathroom. See how cheap your coworkers really are. My coworkers would reach in for a quarter everytime, a dime sometimes, but nickels and pennies they left.

If they're smart, they know that porcelain is basically steril. However, if you were clever, then you left the change in a bowl full of piss (or worse).

Out of the blue she snatched the check out of my hand, ripped it up in front of me and went off

Lady = "Is that how you treat a customer" rant.

I stood there pleading ignorance because I actually didn't do or say anything...if I stare or glare there is nothing really legally wrong with that. Anyway...in the middle of the mother's rant the kid interjected

Kid = "yeah you were looking at my mom all funny"

Me = "And you can just shut your face...you're not even tall enough to look over the counter so what do you know?" (11 years old or so).

Kid = "Screw you"

Kid turns and as a last word says

Kid = "Go back to China"

Interesting thing is that he and his mother were obviously not white...if I had to guess it would be Indonesian or Burmese...ironic...but yes he got lucky...I am Chinese

Me = "What? Fck you! Get your poor @ss back on a boat and back to your island country".

I jump the counter and get in her face and start yelling right back.

Me = "What you saying you turkey btch...etc. etc."

I was working in the mall so yeah it started a huge scene...and I guess my manager saved the day because he saw the crowd while walking back from lunch and ran over to split me and the mother apart. The mom was pretty pissed and just walked away. I got sent home for the day...but before that I went through the mall hunting for that lady. Alright, i didn't exactly work retail but i worked with end users installing our financial software over the phone and internet. We did some call service type stuff and dealt with our sales force as well as potential and paying customers.

This was about 6 months before i joined the company. A Sales rep had placed an urgent request. "We really need to get this guy set up with a trial. He won't be available for the next 5-7 yrs as he's being indicted for Security Exchanges Fraud but its a great potential sale so please call him right away so we can get him to sign a contract. "

Another client did not want to install the software over the internet but wanted us to send him a cd with the software. He called up screaming that there was a number 7 on the box and he hates the number 7 and that the ups guy didn't deliver it to the back door of his home (go through his yard?) like he asked. This happened a bunch of times as we can't control the tracking number that gets assigned, besides, the number 7 was in our shipper code. We told the sales rep who proceeded to tell the customer to" fvck off. We don't need your buisness"

not sure this belongs here as its all sales but one of our senior sales guys calls our hotline and it goes to voicemail as everyone in our small group were on with clients. His voicemail: "Stupid Cat. GODD^MN CAT!!! What The F.. Get.. Get OUTTA HERE!!!" his voice trailing as he's yelling. He comes back to the phone and with the calmest voice answers "hello?.. (click)" He then leaves my manager a message explaining that we might get message where he sounds like a lunatic. He was working from home (Florida) and his cat just jumped on his desk with a dead lizard in its mouth and he chased it out. He asked us to kindly delete the message. It was forwared to everyone in the group and saved - to be used as a pickme up whenever we needed it.

Food stamps are regulated to the extreme. If your store was allowing customers to buy cigs and alcohol with food stamps then your store has been breaking the law.

In Ca. We have a foodstamp program called EBT (uses credit/debit card type things)where you have two types of foodstamp. One part of the program you get funds for purchasing of food items and the other part you get "cash" to buy whatever you want with. That's how they can get away with buying cigs and liquor.

Same deal in MA. I always see this woman with like five or six kids hanging out of a shopping cart full of cartons of cigs when I'm shopping - never food, formula, or diapers. Makes me hate paying taxes sometimes.
Maybe that's why we can't buy alcohol in most supermarkets here? If they didn't sell tobacco products either, the welfare abusers might actually have to buy food and diapers like they're supposed to with our money.

while waiting on line in a grocery store, i saw a woman pull out food stamps to pay for actual food... and then pull out a $50 bill to get lottery tickets...

6 years in retail... so many things to say.

--
Fuzzy on the details, but i'm standing -behind- the electronics counter, and this lady and her husband are all upset about a cd they found in the childrens read-along cd section. it's not on file, and i remembered this item being packaged with a book. after 30 min or so of looking for this other item the manager just says to give it to them for $9.99 and manually key it in. So i break the news to them and I get all kinds of atttitude about how that's too much for it, and when i tell them that's the price we can sell it for they get even more angry. I raise my hands to either side in a "i don't know what to tell you" helpless kind of way and repeat that there is nothing else i can do. Of course they leave pissed. A few minutes later my manager comes back and tells me that the lady and her husband went up front and complained that i was "all up in her face with my hands" ... we both had a good laugh about it. especially since they were on the other side of the counter, and my left hand had a cast/wrap on it and one of those arm slings (broken bone) o_O

---

I was standing up front at the service desk, and loss prevention is standing at the front entrance waiting for a group of guys they suspected of stealing. they get to the door and one of the LP guys tells them to stop. They bolt outside, LP chase after yelling for them to stop. in the parking lot the thieves drop a couple of the aluminum bats they were trying to steal, and just run towards the highway. a couple of them go to their car and nearly run over one of the LP guys in the process. The second LP guy hops in his car and chases down the runners. I don't recall exactly what happened after that, but i know they caught a few of them, and got information on where the other guys lived.

---

One time an irate customer punched a closing manager (i think.. it was some sort of physical assult) before leaving because they wouldn't give in to some return or price adjustment... manager is an older lady in 50's or so... pretty sure he went to jail for it and the manager got a settlement.

---

I've seen all kinds of rip-off returns... It's always amazing how when the customer trying to do a rip-off return gets caught the item being returned for some one else.

Deadbolt lock "just purchased" was a faded gold color with faded house paint on the lock...

Phillips shelf stereo box.... oh what's this ma'am? There's a panasonic shelf stereo in here... "Oh, well this is what came in thebox"

cordless phones.... ALWAYS brought back without a box or receipt.. but they were "just bought" ... though strangely have crust/grime and somhow have turned from white/gray to yellow during that short period of time since they were purchased.

I heard of people before me not checking the boxes like they were suppose to for returns.. 27" TV... ends up it's a box full of garbage/bricks and old clothes...

---

What annoys me MOST, is when i'm ABVIOUSLY helping a customer, i'm TALKING to a customer explaining/answering a question, and another customer intterupts because their question is "more important"

---

Customer asks a question

I answer

Customer tells me i'm wrong and walks away....

---

Tons of customers think that by complaining about product distribution, onhand stock, product quality, that magically i can somhow fix it or make it better somhow.

The only power i have is to help you with whatver knowlege ihave and perhaps ring you up..

---

I had a guy one time get mad at me because i suggested a new technology. USB flash drive over getting a zip drive... i sat there for 10 min while he went off about how everyone does that and how we should stop pushing it down people's throats. if they ask for a zip drive that's all they want.. sure sir.. sorry for trying to help you with my opinion.

---

obviously you are white. Direct racial comments = @ss kicking....I don't care what the circumstance. I had no beef with the lady although I prob would have pushed her aside to get to the kid, but the kid needed to be taught a lesson. If not by me then by someone else in the near future. I would have just beat him...when he turns 16 and tells the wrong black guy to "go back to africa" he'll end up more than just brusied up so I would have been doing him a favor.

lol so ud push the adult aside and whoop a childs ass...pathetic

and yes i am white. your point? does that mean i know nothing of racialism? i grew up in compten(sp?) and englewood. you try being white and living there. i know more about racism then you'll get from watching your saturday morning cartoons kid.

Racism. Compton. Inglewood.

You go to Compton High School, too? :p

Shanteli's response is the funniest thing in this entire thread. You don't know how to spell the names of the towns you've lived in? Racialism?

Jesus, that is just TOO much.

When I was in college, I went grocery shopping the weekend that I moved into my apartment. I was in line at this ghetto save-mart or pak-n-save on the border of Oakland and Emeryville in the Bay Area and saw this woman with 2 shopping carts. She paid for the first one with food stamps and then paid for the second cart that was full of alcohol and cigarettes with cash. She had a huge wad of $100 bills too.

"Maam, I totally understand your concern. I have tried to rectify the situation - maybe it will make a difference coming from a customer. Please talk to the manager."

Instead he refused to serve her and caused his company to lose a customer. He is an ass.
Oh, I'm sorry, so are you gonna somehow make time go faster so that the impatient bitch who needs to buy a game can treat the underpaid, overworked retail kid like sh!t? I don't blame the guy for what he did. Sure it wasn't the proper thing to do for the company, everyone here knows that, but it was the proper thing to do as a human being. If I were his manager, I would have apologized, but defended his actions and proceeded to make the person happy.

When I was 16 I worked at Tim Hortons and in the middle of a Saturday morning rush I had a guy go crazy and throw a donut at me and scream at me until I cried (for absolutely no reason).

Then another customer stuck up for me and they went out to the parking lot and started fighting.

I busted an illegal alien once...
I worked for a gambling establishment, guy came in and needed a w2-g form from a previous year.
No problem, the money room supervisor hands me his Social Security card for me to pull up his info and print it. The first thing that I notice looking at the card is that it had been printed on an inkjet printer, and a bad one at that. I tell the supervisor that the card is a fake, she looks at it closer and agrees with me. She calls in the security guard, who happens to be an off duty (but in uniform) police officer. The officer looks it over and agrees with us, and radios in the guys info to see if he is actualy an illegal. Turns out he is AND he has several warrants out for his arrest on other charges.
Busted.
While questioning the guy she asks him where he got the card, to which he replied he bought it for $50. :Q

Wow, I just finished reading all 6 pages of great entertainment, so I'll contribute one.

As inbound telemarketer: We took orders for the stuff you see on tV. A guy with New Jersey accent calls up for the Girls Gone Wild dvd's. He keeps asking me stuff about them such as, "Will I get to see the naked breasts?" (he never used any slang terms) "How about full nudity?" "Are they real teenagers? Are they all of legal age?" "Will they be packaged discretely?" He wasn't sure which one to get so he was asking about if I ever saw any and if I liked it. I said I saw a couple and they were pretty good. Then he again asks me if I saw the naked breasts and the other special area. He is very adamant about getting to see "the naked breasts." He keeps telling me that I need to convince him he should buy the videos. I tell him I just take the orders and the selling is up to the company and I offer him the customer service line, but he says he likes talking to me. And this goes on for about 30 minutes. He asks me which one I would buy and I tell him the latest one looks pretty good and it's on special. Then he asks if money wasn't an issue, which would I get, and I said "all of them." He ends up buying all that were offered and signed up for the monthly plan. It took about 40 minutes. Keep in mind we were supposed to get rid of a customer after about 5 minutes, but it was a hectic night and callers were extra rude. That was the one and only call from the north east where the caller wasn't a prick. I hope he liked his videos. :)

I actually lasted about a month in a half before I was fired.
