Taking my Driving Test on Monday

They might pull a 3 point turn on you.
Also for railroad tracks it varies on the tester if they want you to stop or just crawl over the tracks.
Hmmm, they might also ask you questions like what is the speed limit here etc.
Keep both hands on the wheel at all times and turn with both hands (hand over hand steering).
Probably better to practice some driving with your parents before heading out, but you already have drivers ed. 🙂

As if you don't have enough information here already...here's one of the only things I remember:

My instructor asked me to change the radio to a station along with adjusting the air conditioning unit - all to see if I had to look down to fiddle with the controls or just glance and know where everything was. (she asked while we were moving)

anyone ever taken a driving test with a manual? I will be taking one soon and I am wondering how they are with the whole hand over hand steering and having to shift in the middle of a turn?

I took mine a couple weeks ago, make sure then once you start going after a red light, that you look both ways even though you're in the clear to go. I normally just took a little glance and hit the gas, but they wanted a more detailed look I guess.

Don't do it. I agree with mugs on this one. If you stall even once, you fail. If you're that confident in your stick driving abilities, be my guest, but I still don't advise it.

The best advice I can give is to take the exam one step at a time. Don't think about parking if you have to drive first, or driving if you have to park first. No need to make a stupid mistake by worrying about something you don't have to do just yet 🙂

Dont really have a choice but I havent stalled it since I got the car 7 months ago, the little diesel has lots of low end torque.

You don't know anyone with an automatic? I mean, nerves can do a lot to a person.

One of the reasons I failed the first time is because I drove exactly the speed limit (25 mph) the entire way. Apparantly I was supposed to drive 20. If you can, drive through the test route ahead of time. I almost missed a stop sign (docked me twice for that). Take it in an automatic no matter how confident you are in a manual.

At least in NYS, if you practice on the Road Test course, you can have your learner's permit revoked, and there may be some other stipulation with the license. Simply put, it's illegal to practice on any road test sites in NYS.

only thing I can do is rent one but I have never driven an automatic car on the road before.

oh yeah rental companies are falling over each other to rent to a 16 year old kid on his learners permit. 😉

im 21 and this will be my second driving test, I started with my learners permit, then there is another so you can drive by yourself and then finally another test before I am done with this damn graduated licensing system

I had a question actually... Do you have to maintain the school zone speed limit throughout the day or only when school is in session? ( I live in CT )

Thanks

Here in IL it's "only when children are present".
