I had the worst headache today. I'm not a big medicine guy so I tried to tough it out. Then I tried taking one Tylenol. No use.

Feeling desperate I took 5 of the extra strength Tylenols. Headache was gone in an hour.

I have no clue why they say only take 1-2 at a time when 5-6 works so much better =/.

I'm not saying do it every night, but when you have a headache there is no reason to suffer because you didn't take enough medicine. It's like how people aren't supposed to overclock.

Assuming you took 6, that's 3000mg. The limit that your liver can take is 4000mg per 24 hour period.

Hopefully your liver is ok, overdose symptoms sometimes don't show up until damage has been done.

http://www.chclibrary.org/micromed/00035840.html

Recommended dosage

The usual dosage for adults and children age 12 and over is 325-650 mg every 4- 6 hours as needed. No more than 4 grams (4000 mg) should be taken in 24 hours. Because the drug can potentially harm the liver, people who drink alcohol in large quantities should take considerably less acetaminophen and possibly should avoid the drug completely.

For children ages 6-11 years, the usual dose is 150-300 mg, three to four times a day. Check with a physician for dosages for children under age 6 years.
Precautions

Never take more than the recommended dosage of acetaminophen unless told to do so by a physician or dentist.

Patients should not use acetaminophen for more than 10 days to relieve pain (5 days for children) or for more than 3 days to reduce fever, unless directed to do so by a physician. If symptoms do not go away -- or if they get worse -- contact a physician. Anyone who drinks 3 or more alcoholic beverages a day should check with a physician before using this drug and should never take more than the recommended dosage. A risk of liver damage exists from combining large amounts of alcohol and acetaminophen. People who already have kidney or liver disease or liver infections should also consult with a physician before using the drug. So should women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Didn't you see the commercial where the lady says she would rather you not take Tylenol if you aren't going to follow directions?

Who the fvck takes Tylenol for a headache anyway? I have yet to find a person who says it works. You being the exception of course but I'd rather have a headache than a fvcked up liver.

you are SUPPOSED to take two (not one), and it will take AT LEAST 30 minutes for them to do anything. congratulations on being too stupid to take medicine properly.

My doctor is having me take 3000mg of ibupreufen a day right now, in 600mg increments. There's no way taking 3000mg at once is healthy.

I take like 3 Tylenol at a time when I do take them. I have messed up and took 6 before. I was sick and took 3. About 30 mins later I took 3 more because I forgot I had taken the others.

Seriously, Ive seen people without documented liver disease who drank maybe one-two drinks day, go into fulminant hepatic failure (requiring liver transplant) after taking a few tablets of tylenol. It happens.

You analogy makes no sense...but don't let that stop you. It might be applicable if I posted a similar attention getting thread, but all I've said is I think you are simply posting this thread to get the types of responses you are getting. As for thread crapping, I tried to post a helpful response, but it's obvious you aren't interested...

You obviously know this is bad to do, but you don't care. I'm guessing you didn't even take that many, and just figure you'd rile up everyone and get the responses you are getting.

Hey, if I wrong, that's fine, I can admit it. I just call 'em as I see them.

What I said originally was tongue in check. I don't like being serious, but since you asked I will be.

My point was that 5 over the counter pills aren't going to injure a person. And in my case the normal amount of medicine wasn't going to cut it. I'm not going to say it's healthy, but it isn't life or death.
