Rarely do you get films like this where the protagonist does what you always hope they would do, kill every mofo that wronged him w/o delay.

A lot of times in movies, you see the good guy go "You're not worth killing..." or "If I killed you, I'd be no better than you", etc etc. Sometimes that leaves you with a sense of dissatisfaction. However, that is not the case w/ this movie. You get all the death and revenge killing your heart can desire and each person that goes down you go "Fuck yeah!"

Seriously, awesome action flick, a must see. If you are one of those ppl who have to analyze every detail, premise, flaw, then don't watch it b/c well, of course this movie is far-fetched but it's not about that, it's about the unrestrained killing by the good guy.

Sully, remember when I said I'd kill you last?

Yeah Matrix, you did say that!

I lied...

RT is crap. Always has been. You don't need some critic's checklist to tell you whether a movie is entertaining or not.

RT is usually at least somewhat helpful. The reviews on Taken are odd though. Some people bash it, while others praise it. Either way I am VERY excited to see it, I can't get enough of the trailer.

i thought it was mostly fair - 6/10... too unbelievable and pretty predictable.

there were far better movies made than this over the last year:

Gone baby gone was great 9/10
Slumdog 9/10
Surveillance 7.5/10
3:10 to Yuma 9.5/10
There will be blood 8.5/10

to name a few

I thought it was a good movie, but it's hard to take seriously because of some huge, gaping plot holes....

My thoughts as well...however, I did enjoy the movie a great deal.

what are these huge plot holes you all are referring to?

***SPOILERS***

First, the whole premise of Albanians kidnapping young affluent tourists for the purpose of prostitution is pretty weak. Like French authorities wouldn't notice a large amount of abductions on their turf and do something about it. I could get over that though.

What really bothered me was the ending. He had just killed about 50 people over the course of 96 hours including at least a couple guys who were ostensibly very rich and powerful. He tortured a guy to death. The French police knew he did all this. He shot the French police director's wife in the arm for fuck's sake. But after he rescues his daughter, he just magically shows back up at LAX like nothing happened. No reprisal, no investigations that we know of. Is it too much to ask that they don't just gloss over that?

Well, with the abductions, we saw how successful they (aruba) was at busting that ring.

I thought kinda the same thing at the end, like man... he just killed so many people. But I think that's part of the deal, he made it home to LAX, the US, without getting busted.

OMG, I just finished watching this movie. Liam Neeson is fucking awesome! His friends called him Rambo after the concert scene, and by the end of the movie, I know why. Wow!

It was fun, but there were lots of parts that were really boring and poorly written.

I just finished watching this movie. It's been on my list for a while. Totally awesome. Better than I expected and I heard lots of good things about it.

To the people complaining that it's unbelievable and that it has plot holes, it's an action movie. It's not a movie that you watch, and then think about. You have an awesome time watching it, then turn it off and go on to something else.

I really didn't care much for the dark knight. Heath Ledger was awesome but Batman sucked.

it's not released yet.

I torrented it a few months ago...

Yea, I had torrented it too. Thought it was already out on dvd or something. Watched it, enjoyed it.. A week ago I was working out in the gym at my apartment, and I saw the Theater trailer come on saying it didnt come out yet. I was like.. wtf?? I watched that like 2 months ago.

I guess it had limited release, but maybe they waited until after the christmas season to do a theater release based on what else they had to compete with.

I still kinda want to go see it on the big screen. Awesome non stop action.

just saw it. it was good, but wasnt all that.

standard retired agent get pulled back into the field because of xyz. this time xyz is his kidnapped daughter.

machine guns keep missing him, ala luke skywalker syndrome. (bad guys are expert marksmen except when shooting at the star of the movie.)

overall, worth the matinee price

I liked the concept, but I really felt that it wasn't much more than a standard action flick. From what I'd read about it, I was expecting much more. It was still great to see Liam Neeson though.

Good movie. It was indeed your standard action flick, but it was still pretty good.

The only things that I was unhappy with were the machine gun fire always missing. I was wanting him to just stealth assassinate everyone.

You saw the European version, not the American version right? The European version is unedited while the American version is edited.
