Yes, look how boring an iPhone is - we all look the same!

Yah, hate on it all you want - no one dislikes Apple more than I do. But simply, the iPhone is a great device. I have no problems with AT&T, it's better than Sprint (which I had before) and the games available are simply awesome. And screen resolution? Meh, my friends Droid doesn't look that much better when it's running Madden ... oh wait, it can't.

Also, dougp, what's the app that lets you add stuff like weather and such onto your lock screen?

lol you use two screens which are exactly the same just with different icons and all of those just have different stuff on them. Fact is that unless you void your warranty and jailbreak it the iPhone is just bland.

that's not a "mod". you just use a different app to browse than the default browser. how would you call that a "mod". so anyone that uses firefox on the PC has not "modded" their PC?

frankly, i don't have anything against the iphone, if it was on verizons network, it would clearly give the droid a run for its money. as it is, on the at&t network, it's not even in the running. what good is it to have a great device but no connectivity? ride amtrack from philly to boston and tell me how many calls you drop with the iphone along the way, and how many you drop with the droid. what good is the browse while on the phone feature, if you just drop the call anyway? frankly, what good is that, to be able to browse and talk at the same time, when are you going to use that, at home? not likely, at work? not likely, while driving, you would be a moron to do that. so, we are talking a "feature" that is pretty much useless in 95% of situations a person could find themselves.

That is fair enough, but I think that for many people (myself included in northern va) the att network performs just fine. I have had a handful of dropped calls in certain deadspots along roads, but nothing to complain about. As for the talk+browse, I personally have used that many, many times. Whether looking up flight times for the person I am talking to, or talking and using google maps (done this many, many, many times), I have taken advantage of this 'feature.' That being said, does that make verizon a crappy network? Absolutely not, and I would have a hard time finding someone who views this as a make-or-break feature, but it is a nice plus.

In the end, I always advise people to ask around their friends/etc regarding network reception, etc. If you get poor ATT reception, then yea, the iphone is not a good idea. If you do, then I would suggest it 100%....

yea, I used it today in fact....

In all seriousness, I really wonder how important having super customizable homescreens is for the avg phone user....I am guessing not much.

You can't do this on a stock iPhone screen(s).

I use widgets all the time. News feeds, twitter feeds, weather/forecasts et. al. Yes, it does matter.

BTW....copied home screens from people who are better at it than I am @ androidforums.com :)

actually, the real question is, when will you be able to do this when i can't on my droid. at church, at work, at home and many commercial locations, i can talk on my phone and browse using wi fi at the same time. the only time i wouldn't be able to do this, is when i am talking on the phone and have no access to wifi. and if you put all the if scenarios together, there aren't a whole lot of places where this is an advantage. frankly, i find the better coverage that verizon provides for voice and 3 g to be a significant advantage vs the few times i would need to be able to both talk on the phone and browse not using wifi (and the most obvious place for me to do this is when i'm driving and that should absolutely never be done in my opinion, browse, talk on the phone and drive at the same time).

What I can't show you is the scrolling screens of the two "windows" where the icons are different. My screenshots are very minimalistic - I don't like a lot of clutter on my phone. You want to see some crazy stuff, go look at MacThemes2 or ModMyI and see what they do with their homescreens.

And like I said - what games are there on the Droid? Give me a list that can compete with:

Madden NFL
NBA Live
Tiger Woods Golf
Ace Combat
Need For Speed Underground
Civilization Revolution
Red Alert
Blades of Fury
HAWX

And that's all I have instaleld - right now.

droid has sold just over 700,000 units. android probably has twice that. within 6 months there will be twice as many games / apps for the android market as there is right now. frankly, i don't really care about games. i'm just waiting for Flash 10 and VLC to come out for Droid.

iPhone + iNav theme > Droid, for anyone who says "boo hoo all iPhones look the same!" iNav makes it look 100% different and is pretty bad ass.

PlatinumGold, surfing while talking is great. I was on the phone with a girl, she wanted to go the movies, I wasn't around my PC and didn't know the times they started. So I looked them up on my iPhone, cos the only way she was going to go is if she knew what was playing before hand and the times. Just one example, I use the web while talking often, it's very very useful for me.

Most users, myself included, bought the Droid because it is a better phone on a better network. I couldn't give a shit less about what games are on it as I generally have many better things to be doing then staring at a tiny screen playing mediocre versions of real PC/Console games.

I game on my PC, my Droid is a communication device. It sends and receives emails, phone calls, SMS, MMS, tethers, and regulates my bodily functions.

Seriously, the iPhone is an okay phone, if you're okay with not being able to replace battery, upgrade the storage, or having a physical keyboard. Its crippled on AT&T's network, if it was open on multiple networks, it'd get a lot less hatred and flak all around.

Then, why even get a Droid? You can do those with most basic phones these days.

Big screen + high resolution = clearly drawn small text.

And if you browse web pages the advantages of this becomes pretty clear. I know 'cause I own an iTouch.

That was obviously a very very short list. My previous Env2 couldn't do emails very well, nor could it browse the web particularly well. Slow as a snail and its low res screen and limited Mobile Web made everything look awful.

Better network? I'll be honest with you - all that shit is a sham, period. I have had as many problems on AT&T as I've had on Verizon. I get coverage in spots they don't (my friends on Verizon) and vice-versa. Period - all this network coverage stuff is bullshit. Granted, 3G coverage is different - but I don't use my 3G even that much, and I'm hardly out of an area that doesn't have 3G coverage. And I can guarantee you there is a better phone than the Droid.

Hmm, I have never replaced my batteries in any of my other phones, and upgrading the storage was a matter of replacing a microSD card. I have a 16GB iPhone - that's plenty of storage as I don't need to carry my entire selection of movies, music and photos. As for keyboard, that's all preference - I don't mind the iPhone keyboard.

The resolution on the Droid is by far superior than that of the iPhone. I turned on my 3GS the other day to get it ready for sale, and the first thing I noticed was how poor the resolution was on it. Every thing looked pixelated compared to using my Droid.

I don't miss my 3GS at all, for what I need in a cell phone, Droid Does.
