I eat there maybe 1-3 times a year now, but I ate there often in college. Never once got sick or had the runs from it.

And I realize why I haven't been there in forever.. damn 800 calorie burritos..

I never, ever get sick from food...went ot Jamaica, had the local food, no problems. I went to Costa Rica, drank the water/tap local foods/fruits, etc...no problem.

I go to Taco Hell and my insides churn like they went to let a little baby out.

Maybe i'll attempt Taco Bell again ... no at work though, haha.

all the combo meals at the taco bell at the student union at UH were more expensive than just ordering the items separately. weird.

Double Cheesy Beef Burrito add Lava sauce is WIN, the Volcano Taco & Volcano Nachos are also good. Taco Bell has some good items on the menu. Eaten there myself hundreds of times in my life and never got sick, or even the shits once. Some of y'all have crazy weak internal systems and need to go see a doctor.

A lot of American fast food is just about the worst shit you could ever eat. You're much safer with street food from anywhere in the world than ground beef from Taco Bell.

So I went to Taco Bell last night to get some dinner for my family and I wanted to order 5 soft tacos and 5 hard tacos. Both are $0.99 each.

When I said I didn't want the "Grande Meal", the dumbass behind the counter and the assistant manager working couldn't understand why. They said "but you'll save money". It took me over two minutes to explain to them that $9.90 is less than $10.70 (the price of the Grande Meal). In the end, they capitulated because there was a line behind me, but they still couldn't understand why I didn't want the Grande Meal.

Sometimes I wonder about people.

You have got to be kidding. First, there is no edible food served at Taco Hell. If you loved your family ... you don't do TB. Second, why is any of this a surprise to you? Yhese people are working at TB for a REASON. Lastly, why-oh-why would you open yourself to the mass ridicule of ATOT by posting this?

The last line of your posting speaks volumes ... after reading this I wonder too.

Just food for thought here... but you all do know that silica is a primary ingredient in Taco Bell "meat" right? Silica... aka sand, or glass. If I remember the numbers right it comprises some 15% of the total make up...

This is completely false. The truth is that what has been referred to as "sand" is in fact silicon dioxide. Silicon dioxide:

  • is a safe, common food ingredient often used in spices, seasonings, and many restaurant and packaged foods;
  • is primarily used in food to prevent ingredients from sticking together;
  • Is a naturally occurring mineral, often found in water, leafy green and root vegetables, cooked dried beans, whole grains, cereals, and fruits;
  • Can be found in many kitchen pantries across America, often in mashed potato and rice mixes, coffee, soups, and many spices and seasonings;
  • Is approved for use in food by the Food and Drug Administration here;
Like many in the food business, we use silicon dioxide in the seasonings and spices for our taco meat. When cooked, our beef contains about .0005% (that is, five ten-thousands of one percent) of this ingredient, far less than the FDA limit of 2%. Furthermore, we use certified organic silicon dioxide. It is not artificial and is not a preservative.
...

*cough*

The chemical compound silicon dioxide, also known as silica (from the Latin silex), is an oxide of silicon with a chemical formula of SiO2 and has been known for its hardness since antiquity. Silica is most commonly found in nature as sand or quartz, as well as in the cell walls of diatoms.
:colbert: You were saying?

What is wrong with you people that you cannot eat taco bell? Thousands if not a few million people eat it everyday. Sure, the first time you eat it, your insides hurt, but then eventually that subsides. Whatever died was probably the bad part of you anyway.

Hrm the "Grande meal" here is 10 (Soft taco / hard taco / bean burrito) + Nacho Belgrande + Mexican pizza for 9.99.

Oh sorry... you believe their marketing/PR department? Have you actually HAD taco bell recently?
:colbert:
Not within the last 6 months, but yes I believe it is far closer to .0005% than 15%. It wouldn't even look like meat anymore at 15%.

Besides, you're eating far more silica naturally in "healthy" foods like leafy green and root vegetables, cooked dried beans, whole grains, cereals, and fruits. It could even be in your tap water ZOMG!!!

Given the condition of most of the taco bells I've ever been in (which thankfully is a small sample size), I could see it being closer to 50% in all honesty! 😉
