I found a great deal, but it only last's until August 5th. It isn't available in my hometown (Palo Alto) or in San Diego, but someone can use it.
Amazon has 2 mail-in rebates off of their $299.99 price for the T68, making the final cost $49.99!
- $50 rebate from Voicestream that expires on 8/31. It requires activation of an account with a service plan of $29.99 or higher.
- $200 dollar rebate from Amazon that expires on 8/05 (Hurry up everyone). It requires activation (sorry current subscribers).
That's an awesome deal for an awesome phone if you ask me.
Here's a link.

That would be a great deal if it was available, but if you search for "T68" at Amazon it shows that it is discontinued/no longer available and you can't add to cart. They've got the rebate, but they don't got the phone!

Well, Jeff, I clicked on the link that I posted, entered in a zip for Chicago (since I was pretty sure it was available there), and it is available there. It's just not available in your area.
I tried a Bay Area zip, a Los Angeles zip, a San Diego zip, and a Las Vegas zip. Not available at any of those. It is available in NY, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Arizona, Miami, and I'm sure a lot more. It just sucks for the California people (and the only part of Nevada that's worth a damn). I think this makes sense, since Voicestream/T-mobile is just starting to appear in the CA/NV area.
Most of the country can take advantage of this deal, but I can't. :-(

btw, voicestream OWNS cingular!
yes, so smart. what makes you think their service is better than cingular's? is that why voicestream/t-mobile will be using cingular towers in the areas they are launching their service?
As for the "Voicestream owns Cingular" comment, you should check out the howardforums, people who were miserable with cingular out west seem much happier with voicestream. Not nesecarily because the service is better (they say it is, but I don't really see how it could be), but because of things like amazingly good rate plans (39.99 for 1000 minutes and unlimited weekends), and tech support that actually knows what its talking about, is willing to deal with the customers, and is open 24/7.

Anybody know what exactly the difference is between the t68 and the t68i? As far as I know it's only the ability to do some funky kind of multi-media instant messaging which I couldn't care less about... and since I get a discount at CompUSA I should be able to get this cheaper than $150...
