Yeah but without him the Eagles would be also rans instead of the favorites to win the NFC Title again.Originally posted by: LeonarD26
He signed the contract, he should be a man and stand by it. I guess he's having a hard time feeding his family...
Hope the Eagles leave him out to dry.

You guys are so fvcking ignorant. They did a good job against the Falcons without him, but if you think they don't need him in the lineup to win it all, you're wrong. He brought the attitude to that team - like it or not - to allow them to win.Originally posted by: geno
He's nuts to try to pull this after coming off a 6 week injury, Philly shouldn't bargain with him at this point. Philly made it through the playoffs just fine without him, that there proves he's not worth dumping truckloads of money into.

Beyond that, what you have to realize is that he's paid VERY poorly in the first few years of the deal, and that the Eagles put a TON of money at the end of the deal that they'll never pay. They'll release him before it comes to that. So yes, he's trying to get some more money, but many just see him as greedy and don't look at the specifics.
1) He was unquestionably the top performer at his position last year up until his injury, and then came back FAR earlier than he should have been able to in order to play - productively - in the Super Bowl.
2) The Eagles have proven - just like the Patriots - that they will release even their best players in a heartbeat if they cost too much money. This doesn't bode well for TO who HAS to expect that he'll be released before the last two years of his contract begin.
3) If he plays only the first three years of his contract, he won't even be among the top 10 WRs in terms of $/year. If you think that's fair for a guy like him at the level he's performed at, you're blind. The NFL isn't like every other sport people - he could injure himself in PRACTICE and never play again. You can't take risks like that. He's a top performer, he deserves the money.
Rosenhaus was brought in to spread out the money he's due in a more reasonable fashion. They'll put less in the latter years of the contract so that he might actually be PAID that money. I'm sure the dollar amounts will go up, but it's more about making the payments reasonable while he's still performing at this level.
Signing bonus info.Terrell Owens: $2,300,000 (7 yrs, $6.2 million roster bonus in 2004, $5 million roster bonus in 2006)

If the shoe fits...but many just see him as greedy and don't look at the specifics.
Played somewhat productively in the Superbowl....AND LOST. How come the *other* players haven't found new agents to help them beg for more money? What about Freddie Mitchell? He's so full of himself, you would EXPECT him to be demanding more money after TO stole what he claims was going to be a stellar Superbowl performance. :laugh:1) He was unquestionably the top performer at his position last year up until his injury, and then came back FAR earlier than he should have been able to in order to play - productively - in the Super Bowl.
Fair enough. That's not going to stop us from calling a spade a spade when he signed his previous contract just to get his foot in the door and now he wants more money after just one season. And what if he gets that money and then sucks ass for the next 3 years?2) The Eagles have proven - just like the Patriots - that they will release even their best players in a heartbeat if they cost too much money. Oh, but all this time hasn't he been saying that he's not in it for the money, he just wants to play for a team that he can help win championships and vice versa?3) If he plays only the first three years of his contract, he won't even be among the top 10 WRs in terms of $/year. It should be more 49mil is a small fraction to what he helps generate.
I'm not saying they don't need a better defense if they want to win the SB, but the fact is, his presence made that team better.Originally posted by: Jzero
They HAD him in the lineup and they DID NOT win it all. They did fine in the playoffs without him, and, not surprisingly, they got their asses handed to them by a far stronger AFC team, a team that probably would have won even if TO was at 100%.Originally posted by: Ilmater

He played VERY productively in the SB, and I'm not going to even BOTHER to get the figures. Go look at the stats and tell me how well he played.Played somewhat productively in the Superbowl....AND LOST. How come the *other* players haven't found new agents to help them beg for more money? He's not going to suck ass. Period. The guy has performed extremely well for years and his production didn't decline AT ALL last year, so I would say there's zero chance that he doesn't perform well.Fair enough. I'm not going to argue about what he said or didn't say. Nobody works for free. And don't be ridiculous - your chances of getting a career-ending injury in football - practice or regular game - are FAR higher than any other major professional sport.Oh, but all this time hasn't he been saying that he's not in it for the money, he just wants to play for a team that he can help win championships and vice versa?3) If he plays only the first three years of his contract, he won't even be among the top 10 WRs in terms of $/year. And what's this that the NFL is the only sport where you can get hurt in practice and never play again? That's EVERY sport.
Nobody's saying he didn't want to be an Eagle, but he came in a played how he played and lived up to every last bit of hype. You can't deny that he's playing above his contract right now.All well and good, but he didn't have to sign with the Eagles if he didn't want to.Rosenhaus was brought in to spread out the money he's due in a more reasonable fashion.
