Ever since upgrading from win98se to winXP I haven't been able make my computer go into standby mode. In fact, the monitor won't even go into power saving with the 3d screen savers, I don't know if this is normal, and if the hard driver power saving is set for 1 hour it will spin down after about 2 hours and then spin back up within roughly 10minutes. I have an old abit kt7a-raid motherboard, a 1.2ghz amd athlon, radeon 8500le 128meg, santa cruz soundcard, a netgear pci lan card and an old generic isa modem. I also have powersaving disabled in teh bios, but so does another of my computers and it works fine with standby. I have all of the newest drivers for everything installed, so is it my modem that is preventing this feature from being enabled? If anybody could offer support i would be thankful.
edit- i also have a 60gig maxtor hd, a toshiba 16x cd-r, and an hp 8x8x32 cd-rw
