System specs for running Unreal Tournament 2007 at max everything?

I will be building a new computer in the near future (probably feb. 2006) and I really want to make something capable of running Unreal Tournament 2007 at max detail (AA and AF an all) at 60+ fps without a hitch. What specs would you guys recommend?
 
We really can't say for two reasons:
We dont know what will be out then (H/W wise)
We don't know what the game will need.
 
on retailer's websites they say it'll come out Q1 2006. Is this accurate or has Epic said otherwise?
 
Oh I heard over lunch yesterday the high end specs.

A64 QC(Quad Core) 8000+
SLI Nvidia 9900s
4 GB DDR2
25GB in drive space
 
Based on what's available now:
- Athlon FX60
- 2gb hi-performance DDR
- Dual GeForce7800GTX 512
- SATA II Raid 0

Can guarantee anything.

No, you will need a 6600gt because it has SM3. All your primitive x850 cards will choke when you enable soft shadows, and the x1800 cards will stutter when you enable HDR.

LOL x800 series is primitive already. Very depressing. 🙁

For some reason I don't think that a 6600GT would do to well at max settings for UT2K7, seeing as F.E.A.R. also employs soft shadows and all that jazz, and you need an SLI 7800GT/GTX to get any sort of playability at high settings/resolutions.
 
Dual core CPU (higher end or OCed X2 preferably)
2 GB RAM
Video card depends on what rez you want to run on, but seeing how the Unreal series has always been more CPU dependant than GPU, i think a 7800GTX 256 MB may be good for med/high settings, & for holy sh!t settings with AA + AF...well that's likely gonna require an SLI/Crossfire config of some sort, or at least teh 7800GTX 512 MB.

I was being sarcastic with that post. I'd take a x850xt over a 6600gt any day, or any faster sm2 card over a slower sm3 card. And no, I dont actually think the x800's are primitive...
 
I'm not going to upgrade my video card until right around when the game comes out...

(Actually my 6800GT should be able to "play" UT2007, but ideally I want to use a resolution higher than 800x600 😛)
 
I would say that you have a pretty good chance of running it at 1280X960 maximum ingame settings with any Athlon 64 and a 7800GT. If you wanted to run aa/af with it, you would likely need SLI. But who knows? This is Epic who we are talking about(quite possibly the best game company out there).

Agreed.

They do a fantastic job of making the UT titles very scaleable.

I know people who play UT2k4 with integrated video, & @ lower settings, it actually is playable :Q
Even i am able to play 2k4 @ 1600x1200 @ holy sh!t settings with 4x AA & 8x AF, & that's on an X850XT PE.

I think that with a 7800GTX, we'll be able to get close to maxed settings @ 1600x1200, but yeah...it's all speculation at this point.

That is incorrect because by then the Intel Quadcores will dominate in gaming so a Quadcore Intel 12000+ cpu is definitely the way to go.

I would seriously advise you to not upgrade until M2/Conroe comes out simply because they will give a bit more performance than their predicessors. You could probably do a G71 or R580 until M2/Conroe and G80/R600 come and upgrade there. It would be pritty disapointing if you get a whole new system that cant even run DX10 games or Vista at optimal performance.
 
I'd recommend you wait till the game comes out and then HOPE there's hardware that can run those speeds at high rez w/ all the eyecandy. There's a HUGE difference between running 60fps in single player and 60fps in a crazy 30 peep game of Onslaught w/ everyone converging on one node 🙂

We have no idea what the minimum or recommended hardware specs for UT2007 will be. It is way too early to predict that.
 
Well if you consider it's a Epic game engine, then hoepfully it can run on even todays high end hardware at max @ 1600x1200.
 
since it is epic, and since they have videos of the UE3 engine running with 7800GTX, expect any system, such as mine in my sig, to be able to play the game with a good amount of eye-candy.
As long as I got a steady 40fps, I will be happy. I can't tell the difference between 40fps and 60fps. I get on average 40 in fear and its just fine. Dips to around 30fps in HL2:Lost Coast with everything on, including 4xAA with transparency AA, and I believe 16xAF.
But yea, sure I wont be able to run it at the max settings, but I bet I will be able to run it decently. Except I will upgrade to a DX10 card when it comes out (and even the G71 if it makes it out by the end of february because of my step-up).
and with 1280x1024 max on my lcd, I wont have to worry about 16x12.

oh and yea, the UE engine is always extremely optimized. It will easily outperform FEAR and look much nicer at the same time.

good phrase :thumbsup: FEAR also does soft shadows really bad, it looks better with them off

its interesting to see that 1) dual core cpus might actually be made some proper use of, and 2) that theyre using the novodex physik engine....and supporting the Ageia PPU.
 
if this helps...i remember the demo. it was running on a 7800gt or gtx at 1280x1024 (i think all settings on high) at 25 fps. i'm pretty sure that was with hdr on. if you watch the video again, he tells you about the settings.

hopefully they work their programming magic and get it running faster before its out.

im hoping i should be ok for awhile with these 7800GT's. my A64 is at 2.5Ghz now, it may possibly get higher once i get a few problems ironed out. but hopefully by the time this comes out ill have dual core A64, and 2gigs (getting 2gig after crimbo anyway)

can you link to me to that video? I've only seen the version that doesn't speak about any settings.
