Seems the show is returning on Feb 1st. For those that missed it last season, here's recap of season one... with cats!

If you missed Season one, just watch it. It's on Amazon Prime. Only 10 eps, not hard to catch up. I like SyFy did this show properly. Top notch production.

Great show, love the special effects and the characters.

The scene where
the guy looses his head in zero G was awesome. One of my favorite scenes in a sci-fi show.

It's not Firefly, but it's still pretty damn good.... Just binged re-watched season 1 in anticipation of season 2.

If I haven't seen BSG or Firefly, what other sci-fi series is this closest to?

Babylon 5 with better effects, less aliens, more sex, fewer showers, and dirtier political intrigue maybe.

Also WTF watch BSG and Firefly as soon as humanly possible.

Watch BSG if you want excellence, and Firefly if you want something more mediocre than The Expanse as soon as humanly possible.

Fixed

I'm still going to watch S2 whenever it eventually gets to Prime, though.

So it's nothing like DS9 or completely different?

Yeah yeah it's on my to do list after 24 and Family Guy.

Didnt really care for it, maybe I expected too much but I may have to give it a second chance. Ill watch the second season anyway just for the parts I do like.

I generally give it a fair to pretty good rating depending on the episode. Given the near total lack of alternatives I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt in the hopes they'll crank up for season 2 a bit more.

The second part of the book was way higher paced than the first. I would think season two would be up to the end of book 1.

I don't think I'd compare it much at all to anything in the ST universe.

Well it is a space opera, but it doesn't have any of Trek's sterile feel. In fact I feel like it's closer to Star Wars, with the "used space" and the interplanetary politics and the flawed main characters.

Yea, that was my point more or less. Thematically it shares basically nothing with ST except for maybe a couple of the darker DS9 episodes but they also can be considered pretty un-ST imo.

My only problem with serial shows like this is I binge watch them and then it seems like forever until the next season. Useless comment I know, but I want in on this thread because I like the show.

I tried to watch the first episode and it simply didn't have any charm or vitality. It focused too much on the creepy dark side of things...which isn't that interesting.

There's always that one guy. BSG would have killed for the fanbase Firefly has. :)

If that were true then why did Firefly only last one season and 14 episodes while BSG lasted four seasons and 73 episodes?

I could never get into Firefly. BSG on the other hand was excellent.
