Gunslinger.
I figure that most people are going to gravitate towards lightsaber-wielding classes, and I wanted to pick something less popular. I got a Sniper up to 22 in the beta and had a blast (so I'm going to go with it's Republic equivalent). Mercenary was quite fun as well, and might be my first alt (well, one of the Trooper advanced classes).

Bounty Hunter was recommended to me, but I may choose Smuggler as I think I prefer the light side to the Sith.

Just FYI, the mirror class to the bounty hunter is the trooper.
The smuggler is the mirror class to the imperial agent.

I've always played a healer as my main, because there are never enough of them, and if you are a great healer, you are almost guaranteed every piece of high level loot (always need healers, and healers are given the best stuff first).
Thinking of rolling a Sith Inquistor; never like playing the 'good' guys. Horde always in WoW, Sith always in ToR (unless the classes play radically different).

Ahh ok, thanks. I played the IA in my last beta run and it was fun, but maybe Trooper is the way to go if I am going to try and play solo most of the time.

Merc - very versatile & easy to level up and for Christ's sake, Jawa with rocket launchers! Plus a chance to re-witness the divided by zero moment encountered in beta - playing the BH voiced by Steve Blum on a mission assigned from someone also voiced by Steve Blum to kill a target whom is voiced by....Steve Blum, mind = blown.
Female Operative - Jo Wyatt did such an amazing job I pre-ordered just for that alone <3. Matter of fact my first time trying IA I had to stop after Hutta, I knew she's gonna be the one, can't risk spoiling it!
Assassin - extremely fun to play, never got very far though, need to finish it!
Dark Vanguard(FemShep!) - played a Light Commando(Varrick!) to 50 last phase, want see the "other side"
Guardian or Jugg - only if they finally decide to give pure melees some real lovin'

Yes, but since the ACs basically are the actual classes, those are better answers.
