is there any particular reason as to why there are so many votes for Jedi Consular compared to Knight?

becasue as of beta close the Knights/Warriors are still horrible compared to everything else?

and the Shadow/Assassin does everything they do better..
tank and DPS..

I played both guard and jugg and sent/mar up to high levels and they never felt as good as all the other classes..
they were a free kill in PVP and put out LOW dps numbers in PVP and PVE..

they were due for an overhaul.. unfortunately the one they gave the mar/sents made them WORSE..
and the Jugg/Guards never got their promised love at all.

Myself.. your table is extremely flawed.
those are the base classes.. not the true classes.

I will be playing ALOT of different chars.

Commando for sure.
Assassin or Shadow for sure
Operative or Sniper liked both still not sure which i want for final though...

down the road after they make some more adjustments will try Sentinel again..

Everyone on AT wants to be a healer apparently.

you do know only 1 of the Inquis advanced specs is a healer...

Sorc nukers are insane...
as are Assassins..

both are FAR more common than the healer tree.

You really need 16 options because the advanced classes may as well be entirely different classes.

Anyway.

Juggernaut
Operative
Mercenary

Can you respec a character like you could in World of Warcraft, or are you stuc with a certain advanced spec when you choose it?

Other then the Inquisitor, what other classes heal? Is there like a priest class that is far superior for healing?

No you are stuck with whatever AC you choose.. you can respec the trees inside that AC though.. but the cost goes up DRASTICALLY... and never comes back down.. at least in beta.. Unlike WoW where after time the cost would decrease.

however in that AC you have 3 different trees that can alter how the char plays fairly drastically as well.

ALL base classes EXCEPT Jedi knight/Sith Warrior have a healing AC/tree.

that includes..
Sith Sorc
Jedi Sage
Imperial Op
Scoundrel
Mercenary
Commando

guys that have played the beta, how much of a timesink is this game? Will casual players get completely hosed by 16 yr olds with nothing better to do?

yes and no..

yes the hardcores will have 50s within most likely a week..

most people really dont care though.. as this time the game has a serious story and its a very good story..

makes you feel you are in the movies or a book..

if you are on a PVE server there should be no impact on your game except maybe the professional crafters types that may corner the market and the GTN..

Interesting interview here suggests this is not at all true at 50.

In any case, picking your main for FOTM reasons seems really, really shortsighted.

You do know that this statement had nothing to do with the poll and everything to do with people's declared spec intentions in the other thread.

But since your point that there will be a *lot* of SI nukers out there is definitely correct, I'd suggest anyone who's class-story-agnostic and wants to heal should consider BH or Agent for reduced gear competition (every AC/spec in a class has the same main stat)...

I and MANY others were L50 in beta.. and I assure you they still flat suffer in PVP even to other classes L20s..

where L30 Powertechs and mercs were throwing down nearly 400k damage in a warzone and 80+ kills..
Assasins
Snipers/ Operatives and
Sorcs were always in the top 3 spots with MUCH higher DPS

a typical L50 PVP epic equipped Marauder could at best throw down 200k and that is an AMAZING amount for that class..

the average DPS at L50 for the mars/sent being much closer to 100-175k per WZ.

the beta forums are still open if you have access.. which everyone who accepted a beta invite for the last huge weekend should have.. so go look through the feedback forum yourself..

They are flat a joke in PVP the nerfing of one of our main skills the removal of the 30M saber throw for Sents/Mars and the combination of being the most easily kitable as well as the ONLY class with no range moves (10 meter mortal strike is horrible and leaps are on much too long of a cooldown) makes PVP horrible on this class.

PVE isnt much better even with your dedicated healer pet up expect to finish even level fights below half health.. and story heroics expect to need help or to finish with no health on the bar unless you are overleveled.

6 months in closed beta.. played to 50 on both sides..

multiple builds.. they promised fixes and still the sent/mar struggle and the jugg/knight are flat broken waiting on a fix that never came PER GZ.

I find it interesting that after 25 votes, we've only got one Jedi Knight and ZERO Imperial Agents

EDIT: looks like the population is split pretty evenly at this point (39) too.
19 for the Republic
20 for the Imperials

Wife's going Agent. She's not a member of these boards though

What i am liking and discovering the more i look into (although some data is old) is even if you have bunch of people rolling healers (ie jedi sage in my case) they can still respec and be viable dpser's as well. ASs healer spec you wont be the best dpser by anymeans but respec into the damage trees and its sounding like you can actually be a benifit to the group.

Even the interview with Shards of Republic fo whatever they were the jedi sage made hints of that. Going hybrid and providing way better dps while still being a decent "offhealer" type.

i'm surprised at the lack of people playing Sith...when the poll started, it looked like the majority of the folks were going that way

thought for sure we'd have a bunch of lil'vaders running around

From my admittedly limited beta experience I found the Republic storyline to be far more enjoyable; the character choices also fell more in line with how I like to play.
