You read my mind. Where's the outrage about the priests getting off mostly scott-free?

There's a vast different between - on the one hand - Polanski's case with a single incident with a single 13-year-old victim, involving a major fvck-up by the presiding judge and - on the other hand - hundreds of Catholic priests multiply-abusing thousands or tens of thousands of victims down to age 5 over many decades, with the church hierarchy basically ignoring the abuse and protecting the abusers.

If you really can't see the difference, I pity you.

I am not in any way condoning what this man did. But the facts are he pleaded guilty to one charge to avoid the 5 others. The prosecution suggested he recieve probation, but the judge sentenced him instead to 90 days in a psych ward. The most he could have recieved was 1 year in jail. Thats it. And the judge said he was going to ask him to leave, but he left anyway. The woman does not want this to continue. At the age of 13 she did not have the right to decide if he should be punished or not.

But now that she is in her 40s and has moved on with her life and doesn't want this to be pursued any further, that should be respected. Everyday women decide the fates of men who do these things. Kobe Bryants accuser left him off the hook and Big Ben, god who knows whats in the mind of that pyscho. Outside of some publicity for a prosecutor, no one gains a damn thing from this continuing. If the woman wanted him to be continued to be pursued I would have a different opinion. I would also assume he has compensated this woman well too.

Rapists are pigs and he raped a child. But in light of all things, this needs to be let go.

How would you feel if (one of) your daughter(s) gets raped and the rapist flees the country?

Hey you are preaching to the choir. I have been critical bigtime of child predators whether they are women or men. But the truth is the judge screwed up. He could have rejected the plea and required trial. I still don't see how he just walked out of the pysch ward without the police. If a man or woman rapes any of my family, seriously, there might be trial, but that person won't be the defendant..................

Plus as I told the judge when I went for Jury duty and he told me I was compelled to follow the letter of the law when deciding the outcome of the trial....

I told him I don`t see some laws as absolute...there are some laws that are just plain stoopid.

He let me off jury duty.
If you truly believed that, you did this country a disservice by telling the judge the truth. This country needs more jury nullification.

(This is a general comment, and not meant to pertain specifically to the Polanski trial.)
