Last week I was out with a girl who was getting poked in her boob by the remnants of a price tag on her bra. I'm sure she thought I was weird when she was able to cut it off with the scissors on my swiss army knife.

She was inviting you to bite the tag off with your teeth then start sucking her boobs, instead you nerded out and were the always-prepared cubscout when you could've been licking them boobies. fail.

I just broke another blade in my Leatherman yesterday. That's 5 breaks so far, with 2 being on the knife blade. The only reason I carry the POS, is for the pliers, which are first rate. I use/abuse the other tools to save wear and tear on my Swiss Army. I'd rather scrape paint with the Leatherman, and keep my Swiss Army sharp for when I need a real knife :^D

Leatherman = POS? Lol. What exactly were you doing with said blades when they broke? I want to see you say you expected a pocket knife to baton through a concrete block or something.

I was trying to pry the metal plate out of the end of a door, where the latch goes. The torque was very light because I didn't want to bend the brass, or crack the wood. The blade this time was the awl.

First, using any tool to pry definitely will stress your multi-tool to the limit.

Secondly, what model Leatherman are you using?

My Swiss Army holds up to prying very well. I've bent a couple blades, but some quick hammer work gets them back in shape. I did snap the pliers off my Swiss Champ. I was trying to bend a heavy nail sideways, and it was too much for it.

My Leatherman's the original. They only had 1 style when I got mine. I also have a tri-fold Leatherman that I don't use much. The handles fold twice so it can easily go in a pocket. Due to the style, it only has a couple of small blades in it. Oh yea, I also have a Micra. I'm not sure why I carry that; habit I guess. The Swiss Army has better scissors, and that's the Micras main selling point. I broke the screwdriver in that also, but it left enough metal that I could still use it after a bit of grinding.

Well that's your problem. As I said earlier, the newer leathermans are a HUGE improvement over the original classic design. The old leathermans were good for its time, but are plain inadequate compared to their newer stuff.

IME, the Swiss Army Knives aren't very good quality. Yes, they offer lots of gadgets, but they're not very good.

A good quality multi-tool is far better if you're actually going to have to use the tools. I've broken a couple of Gerbers over the years...

I'd still consider them if I'm ever in the market for folding pliers. If I had to buy some without holding them in hand first, I'd go with the Swiss Army folding pliers. I may not ever need another pair. Disregarding the extra tools, I'm happy with the pliers, and I always have my Swiss Army in pocket, so I'm covered for just about everything.
