I'm the same way

Dang with that kind of a spider, you have to be very smart. You walk up to it with a can of raid and it just laughs at you, thats when you pull out the lighter and fry that sucker.

Well thanks a lot guys... I guess I didn't really need to sleep soundly tonight anyway....

brrr.... spiders.....baby spiders......*shudder*

I am officially not clicking any more links off of this thread.

The page I linked to has pics of what is called a "Garden spider" harmless but can grow very large.

the o.p.'s pics are of what we call a wolf spider.

I have those spiders too shimsham, my wife seen one in the walk in closet where we keep our clothes and she wouldnt go in there for a week.It freaked the crap out of me the first time I went to grab one with a paper towel and seen the babies take off everywhere,I just thought it was hairy also lol.
They dont really bother me much until I lay down to sleep and just wonder if there is any in the bed.Stupid spiders.

Should have put something in there for reference, its body was about as big as the top of a soda can.

Im the same way, I use to have snakes as pets.. It's funny how insects that either cant or bearly hurt you when it bites scares the hell out of me, but yet snakes, which can give you stiches if big enough Im not afraid of, even after I got bite (several times) I still continued to hold the snake after.

It's probably because snakes are more "familiar" to humans. They're larger and more similar to other animals than spiders and insects are. You're used to seeing snakes in movies and even as stuffed animals for kids to play as where spiders are extremely stigmatized. Spiders also have the whole "where the hell is it?" idea behind them since they're small and love dark places.

Snakes are awesome, but I HATE SPIDERS!

I think it must have something to do with extremety protrusion... with a snake you've just got 2 ends, but with a spider, you've got those 8 gangly legs darting out everywhere and those 2 pinchers on its mouth. There's just no trusting that.

Regular spiders, where their legs are thin and stuff are fine... but big juicy ones with them big legs and round bodies... it's homemade flame thrower time!! (Can of bug spray + lighter) 😀

Hahaha, I've done that so many times it's become an art.

I've actually had a few spiders make a loud squealch/scream. That's a very satisfying response.

Once there was a REALLY HUGE moth in my garage flying around while I was working on a particularly difficult case-mod at night. I whipped out a can of WD-40 and a barbeque lighter and started burninating in its general direction, the stupid thing actually FLEW RIGHT INTO the flame and kinda flapped around and then dropped to the ground flaming and kicking. Those white moths I have nothing against, but this thing was the size of a small bird.
