^ you should have jack stands supporting the car not the jack when you are under.

Noooo really?

I use jack stands all the time but there's a point between when the car gets jacked up and you've got to reach under there and slide the jack stands in when it could let go and drop. Thats what I'm talking about.

I use the aluminum racing jack from Harbor.. seems to work fine for me. I used to be pretty low and it always got the job done.

resurrecting this tread as I'm looking for a Jack to use on my GTO (fairly low to the ground)

What's the consensus on this jack?
if your goat is still stock height, it might fit under the front, but because the front lift point (under the engine crossmember) is so far back, chances are you wont be able to pump the handle once you get it under there. still would need to drive up a couple 2x4s' or use a second jack on the side to get enough space to pump the handle. if you're lowered, you can forget getting anything under the front without some help. getting my 06 up was always a PITA. my G8 poses the same challenges. raceramps are awesome though for those jobs where ramps are appropriate (oil changes)

has anyone seen said jack at costco lately?

I dont have a membership but i can bother a friend who does, i just dont want to waste his and my time if they just stop carrying it. I know it varies from store to store in the end but least if someone saw it i know they didn't kill it off completely. Otherwise i'm gettin the HF jack as i need something to lift higher.

I haven't seen any jacks in my costco, but they might start carrying more as summer is approaching.

Yea this jack comes and goes seasonally, I think you could ask CS about it too.

We always used airbag jacks at the shop, I've always been tempted to pick one up for home because they're so damn handy. Of course they're on the expensive side though.

I use this - works great for me. Light, easy to maneuver. I think I got it on sale for 69 or so.

I bought a 4' landscape timber cull, and cut it into ~6" sections to use in case I need a bit more height.

^ i have a similiar Craftsman, its nice that its low but problem is lift height is crap. that one you listed is 14 inches or so, Mines is just about 15inches. The HF NORMAL orange guy is 20 inches, i think costco one was about the same. HF ones are hit or miss but i really dont mind too much. I use jackstands and my low profile craftsman gets low enough for me, just doesn't go high enough. 15inches isn't enough for me to crawl under for much and i'm a SLIM guy.

My Torin red jack is dying. Might have to get one of those blue HF jacks. I really just want it so I can rotate my tires.

I know one of our Costco's in town has around 20 to 30 of them, just saw them Wed while shopping. And the other Costco in town usually has them every time I go to it.
