I would love government provided ammo for shooting competitions.
Switzerland is often used a model of responsible gun-ownership. They have one of the highest per capita gun ownership rates and an incredibly low crime rate. Unfortunately the US cannot emulate this model, due to numerous socio-economic reasons.
 
The Stgw.57 in that guy's locker would fetch thousands of dollars here, if you could find one. Awesome rifle.
 
mostly because its a little sh*t country that will hide your nazi gold for you so its just not worth the bother.
 
My Uncle is swiss and I did see his rifle once when we visited.

In practice who knows how effective all of this would really be. I wish that I was legally mandated to have an awesome rifle at home, though.
 
I seem to remember reading the Swiss gov't audits the guns and issued ammunition pretty strictly. If you have shit not accounted for, they fuck you in the ass pretty hard.

Dunno about private ammo sales though.
