Same thing happend to me with the retail version. ($10 coupon). Something in there system charged me $20 bucks more that what it should have. I called and talked to a gentleman named Lee and they are aware of the problem. I have been credited back my $20 already. Lee was very helpful and polite with my problem.

i live in san jose and do the pickup option. i have come into their store/wherehouse several times. they are very nice people, and willing to help, especially mr lee. i highly recommend them. i hope you give them a second chance.

i ordered using my paypal debit card, and the charges seem to be correct, but i will definately keep an eye out on the statement.

i just looked at my online statement. i orderd $57.81 from them and i got charged $87.81. Sounds like they are tryn to rip online orders off. Gonna call them as soon as they open!! I want my $30 dollars back! Not given out charity here!!

It seems like they're adding the amount of the coupon to the original price rather than subtracting it.
Yep.

I've ordered from SVC many times and have never been overcharged. The first poster is just panicking. Contact SVC and somebody will fix it.

No panic here, I simply thought others may want to know.

Why did you post a thread slamming them before giving them a chance to correct the error?

You're right, my scathing attack toward SVC was unfair and unjustified.
Some of the things I may have said were out of order, I'm just glad nobody else was overcharged.

I think I'll just swallow the extra $ they charged me, after all I don't want to appear as if I'm accusing them of taking more money than what was originally authorised.

Call them and stop blathering!

Good post Phonicc. It turns out it wasn't just you. This was a hot deal for any customers of SVC with loose accounting practices and I thank you.

that 'Lee' guy helped me with other problems that I had with SVC,
he's very helpful and kind

i love SVC even with some problems they have

Lee just called me to let me know they're crediting my account for the $30.
Nas called me back to check everything was OK.

Was a simple mistake and I give kudos to SVC for sorting it out quickly and in a decent manner.

Hmmm, thx for the headsup. Not sure yet if I was overcharged (based on current balance, its possible), but one thing thats concerned me is that the UPS tracking number they sent was for a package delivered in january!

SVC is not a perfect company, but neither is any other company perfect. SVC has screwed up THREE of my orders, but they have been more than willing to fix the problem on their dime.

Dear Valued SVC Customers,

We would like to apologize for any misunderstanding arising from this mistake. Any orders placed before 12PM PST February 17, 2005 and using coupon codes for $10 or $15 off the XP90 may have been overcharged. Please check your credit card statements and contact us immediately if there is any discrepancy. The charge will be exactly $20 or $30 higher than it should be depending on which coupon code you used.

As we are a Yahoo! store, we have to import our order data into our financial system and in doing so, the coupon codes get imported as items with positive cost whereas they are supposed to have negative cost. This results in a large graphical imprint that reads *OUT OF BALANCE* on our printed sales orders. Those orders are very obvioulsy apparent to our workers who then manually key the correct coupon cost.

The problem comes from the recent redesign of our graphical forms. As most of you have noticed the forms that come with your orders have been completely redesigned over the past few weeks with several revisions. The current form has been updated with our company logo and contact information clearly displayed, a clearer font, more efficient spacing, and most importantly, one line per item instead of two. Unfortunatly, in modifying the template, we lost the feature that warns us when an order is out of balance. This resulted in some orders slipping through the cracks with coupon codes that add to the cost rather than subtract from it.

We noticed this problem on Feb 17 and currently we are manually checking every single order that passes through our system for coupon codes so that the correct amount is charged. We also have one of our programmers modifying the script that we use to import order data to automatically assign negative cost values to any productid that has a type "coupon." Lastly, we are checking previous orders that were placed durring the past 3 weeks as we were redesigning our forms to make sure anyone who was overcharged is credited.

If you notice that you were overcharged, please call us at our main number 408.432.1239 and let us know. You may also send an email, but for faster service you should call. You will be credited immediately and your bank will show the credit posting to your account within 1-3 business days.

Respectfully,
SVC Customer Service
