A moron?

He wrote a fairly simple book that comes with controversey, thus publicity, built in.

Hell do a speaking tour of course and probably appear on assorted daytime TV news shows and probably end up on Letterman, Leno or both.

In short, he's gonna make an assload of money off by playing to the envy and jealously of others.

You say he's a dumbass?

I'd say he's a genius.

Wish I'D thought of it.

No matter how much money he's making, he is still a fvckin idiot, with no basis on anything he says (except maybe the crash studies, but thats common sense)

That's what I'm thinking. $50 says he buys some exotic car with a 12-cylinder engine with his haul from this book :)

Wasn't half of his argument the fact that SUVs aren't practical? Someone please, for the love of god, explain to me what is practical about a V12 Ferrari

it may not be practical, but it is far less dangerous to others on the road.

Not if you are drifting through corners and speeding down freeways. Cuz you know damn well any car enthusiast would be.

I love how people think SUVs are impractical, based on simple, casual observations of single occupants.

If a parent uses one to haul their kids around, the car will be driven alone at least 70% of the time (return trip after dumping the brats, and grocery runs). Does this mean they don't still need the extra room? A parent with just three or four kids needs room for six or eight. Why? because kids always come with friends and carpools.

A person might buy one instead of a pickup truck to tow their boat on the weekends. Are they to buy a second, smaller car just to appease your outrage? I know that if I had to tow a boat, I'd do it with an SUV, not a pickup, and I sure as hell wouldn't buy a second car just to appease the busybodies.

I could go on with dozens of other examples, but why bother?

In short, get over it. You can't base your opinion on casual observations without knowing a person's reasons for having one.

A moron? It got you to start TWO threads about his book . . . and who has the $$$? Not you.

This is the first thread I started on his book. Maybe you need to check your eyes.

Try picking up a hot chick with your SUV.

BMW X5's are pretty good for that. Same for Range Rovers. Chicks dig luxury SUVs...

You say he's a dumbass?

"are people who tend to be more restless, more sybaritic and less social than most Americans are. They tend to like fine restaurants a lot more than off-road driving, seldom go to church and have limited interest in doing volunteer work to help others."

"Market research shows that people who buy SUVs tend to be people who are particularly worried about their own needs and less concerned about others"

That makes him a dumbass in my book :D

Realize that Britney is really the product of a few marketing wizards who devised a way to use mass media to tell teens what they should like, and then give it to them.

Also realize that there is a "practical" wing to intelligence. There are people who didn't make waves in the scientific community, but that doesn't mean they aren't brilliant.

I don't know whether this guy wrote this book because he sensed it would be a hit, or if he just blundered into success, but either way, he won.

1) I don't think that your typical Escape, CRV, Explorer, Tahoe buyers (all top selling SUVs) are going to be eating at fine restaraunts on a constant basis. Maybe Navigator, Escalade, and RR buyers, but they make up a small % of the SUV sales.

2) Seldom go to church? That is just f*&king stupid. Who comes up with that sh!t? Hell, at my church, SUV's are all in the parking lot.

3) Limited interest in volunteer work?? He needs to STFU. I volunteer, my parents volunteer. Hell, most of the time when I volunteer at different places, it's people in SUV that haul all the damn supplies and materials to the location.

4) More worried about their own needs and no one elses. WTF?? This guy has NO clue.

ANYONE who disagrees with you is a "dumbass" in your book.

Huh?? Hell, I disagree with people all the time, but this guy is spouting off stupid sh!t.

My 5,000-pound, gas-guzzling, 90 cubic feet of cargo space, four wheel drive with low-range transfer case SUV is the greatest thing since Adam first hit that Eve poontang.

Have you actually read his book? Or are you just picking on some points (likely) out of context?

And what IS it with you that requires you to jump to the defense of something you like calling those who disagree with you "morons"? Are you that insecure?

Well, he calls SUV drivers vain and self-centered so I think I can equally dish it back out :D
