I don't watch TV but have spent fortune on Channels, Apple TV, Plex, Homerun, 40 TB and 8 TB NAS for DVR plus full Sling and cloud DVR plus PBS, KQED for Masterpiece Theater, none of which I personally use. I would actually be better off with Xfinity cable I think. The issue with over the air in our local environment, yours is the same as mine, is that you can't get MSNBC without some sort of subscription. One watcher in my house has to have that and I hate cable but can't escape TV. I bought a thousand dollar 65 inch Qled for the TV watcher here but it was pronounced too big so I gave it to my Nephew. I have a Sony 5 piece stereo from the 80s in my front room and unopened Klipsch speaker system and record player in my garage somewhere but I just listen to music on occasion via headphones and YouTube.

When I become convinced the MSNBC banner would cause burn in any time soon in future OLED TVs I will maybe buy an LG OLED 55in. I skipped OLED for a monitor purchase I recently made for the same reason. Game banners are always lit in fixed positions.

The newer oleds do a better job of preventing burn in. I have some burn in on my c1 oled…of the msnbc logo-_-

Well that's new information. Yep, googled OLED TV burn in, it's a fact I was not aware of.
They make constant improvements to it but my years old PLAIN OLD FASHIONED LEDS are still going strong, but OLED looks really great. The QLED I bought shines in bright rooms. OLED is stupendous at night or dark rooms. Blacks are really black and colors are vibrant.

I hear normal viewers should get around three years burn in free with the latest tech but in my house MSNBC is on night and day. One of my family is addicted to self torture. I quit watching when I realized all I wanted to do while watching was to kill. I’m at my nephews right now looking at that blank 65 inches talking to you and petting my nephews dog I walk on Thursdays. His tongue hangs out and his face goes limp when I tell him he hates himself. He pays no attention to words, only the touch of my hand.

Gurdjieff was whom I read I think that said we must treat dogs well because it is a sin to disappoint them as they see us as Gods and have a duty to live up to the truth they see even though we ourselves were told otherwise.

I am not sure what you intend here but I feel like there is more here than a simple question.

I could say that capitalism is deeply pragmatic because its nature depends of the utter banality of self interest and the art of the deal.

As a bleeding heart liberal I just happen to believe that most people have no real idea what their self interest actually is. So what can you say to those who believe they know what it is but don’t really?

PS: Imagine the psychological experience of a Hopi Indian whose duties in dance and ritual are vital in keeping the universe alive vs people who live in cities and have no real deep attachments to the natural world. Imagine what it must feel like to be huge. If attitude creates the world it could be a good idea to have a good one, I would think.

Let me know if I went off on a tangent and missed the point of your question. It's likely I did, I think.

Unfortunately, and there's an a old saying, shit always rises to the top. Usually, some bored, power obsessed person gets control of these HOAs. All I wanted them to do was pay for the insurance on the public property areas.
They say that also about cream. They also say that he who tastes knows but that depends on what you get used to. Jack Sprat and all that.

I'm not aware of having looked at an OLED, have read about them. I'm perfectly happy with my ~$225 TCL 43" LED Roku TVs. They look 3x better than my projection system. There's no room for anything bigger in my bedroom. I'll be setting up Tablo DVR in tandem with my rooftop antenna this coming week, which will majorly improve my DVR experience - the TCL TVs implement a kludgy kind of DVR that gives you the last 90 minutes but is erased if you change channels or turn off the TV. It's better than nothing but it's pretty rudimentary. The Tablo should give me DVR similar to my projection system's DVR, probably better because the projection system's while full featured has some very nasty bugs.

Ha-a-a-h . . Ha - Ha . . . Ha-Ha-a-a-h! Ah! Hah-hah-hah-hah!

Incredible. I start a thread about CBS' Shari Redstone, but you guys are comparing your Bravias, LGs and TCLs!! I've also got a Tablo that needs attention, because it keeps falling from its mount -- as the sticky pads aren't so sticky anymore.

Well, Pill-grums! I say "go for it"!

I see them at Costco and Best Buy. LG has a 43 incher in at least one model and I bet more. I go to Costco rather regularly and best buy had LG on sale for the 4th as well as other things. I decided to replace my broken dish washer and microwave and stove with a broken oven and with one dead burner and one that doesn't heat right with new LG and an induction range. Installed yesterday and the range is super fast boiling water. I had always wanted gas but family members said no as brother in laws house burned down from a leaky gas stove. The control over is just as quick and it heats much faster. Now I have an over large enough for baking baguettes. Would have loved a Mele steam oven induction range but couldn't see paying the price for that. The 4th sale saved me over 2000 dollars. Was waiting to remodel y kitchen but there are so many issues to deal with on that I simply got tired of waiting. And am happy I did.

I am so used to living without a microwave and dishwasher so it will be a challenge to use them. I used to heat water for instant coffee but finally got a stove top pressurized thing like a small espresso thingi but finally got a Brevelle 700 off on Amazon. I don't often steam the milk and the induction makes it a perfect temperature in a minute. I think I have everything now but a Royal Enfield, but I gotta clean my garage. I'm rich now. Out of the blue I started getting a check for social security. I don't know why. Maybe Trump doesn't want me to hate myself.

You can do a DVR just like with cable. Mine is 20 GB raid and I think I used Channels on a Wester Digital NAS. I got the 2100 pro for fear of getting lag complaints and got mesh wifi to prevent that too as the rooms the TVs are in are not hard wired. Lately I have been pretty complaint free and unharassed by my local user. There is nothing worse than being a know nothing and a go to guy although cursing and screaming insures I get to world alone.

I got glue side sticky side velcro cut to size pads on Amazon I use to stick my switches to the back of my two computer desks. I used to game in the kitchen but it is tremendously bright but now I set up in a bedroom with shuttered windows. Much better there for games. although I only play one these days. Still havent got everything set up as I did a fresh install of win 11. Have to reprogramm my gaming key pad.

One example: https://www.amazon.com/VELCRO-Brand...x=velcro+cut+to+size+pads,aps,164&sr=8-5&th=1

As an aside mention, the local, OTA networks have become the most expensive and aggressive of being paid to retransmit over CATV systems. Not sure about satellite anymore as I've been out of that game for almost 10 years now.

But as of now, local programming, is costing the most for retransmission on CATV systems.
Just FYI.

OK, so back OT: Is 60 Minutes worth a look anymore? I stopped when their main guy quit a couple months or so ago.

I can't help there. They always talk about one form or another on how the world is sick while having no idea how really bad it is. It depresses me to watch so I never do. I think people thrive on horror of one kind or another, various ways to chase ambulances and watch people bleed. You can just watch the Neverending Story and feel the world of joy disappearing as people die from lack of faith in the good.
