Surveillance - anyone know anything about it?

In short I got hit by a car while riding my bike a few years ago and I am suing the person who hit me. It's been over 2 years since the accident and apperently her parties side will have surveillance on me. Anyone have any experience with this type of stuff and know what to expect?

My house is on a private street so I doubt that they will be parked outside watching me, but Im pretty sure they will try and follow me around when I leave my street. I have also been told by people who have had court cases that they go around the neighbourhood and interview people regarding me.

I really don't care too much about what they see me doing because I am disabled and limited after my accident, so they won't see me hauling groceries in this lifetime. I am however angry at the fact that my court case is taking forever and that I will be spied upon to prove what should of already been settled long ago.

Please share any experiences you have had, or shed any light on the subject.

My brother was a private investigator for these types of cases several years ago, so I can offer a few comments at least from what he used to do:

1) They will find a way to monitor you even at your house. It could be from a neighbor's (my brother would sometimes do it from their house after befriending them) or just down your street. They can't trespass, though I'm not sure I'd put it past them to do so.
2) Look for the guys in the vans with the blacked out windows. That's probably obvious enough, but you'll probably be seeing something similar. My brother would monitor people sometimes for 24 hours straight.
3) Do be careful what you do on days where you feel better, if you do. All it takes is a few captures and you have a world of trouble.

Overall though, if you're honestly hurt then there's not much to worry about. They won't bother you, and you won't need to bother them. Let them do their job and get your deserved compensation.

What sort of info are you looking for here? If you have nothing to worry about then you'll be fine.
If your just finding out now that they will be using this method its already probably too late as they would have done it during the first two years not just starting now....

if you're under surveillance, it may not have much to
do with justice. (i'm not saying you don't have a good
case; i've just had a chance to oversee some personal
injury cases.)

oh yeah - if you can surveill the people surveill'ing you,
that could turn out to be a strength. it's not hard to do with
a PC and some webcams and the right software.

Sounds like our legal system today. It isn't about truth or justice, but about doing whatever it takes to win. It really sucks that you'll have to keep looking over your shoulder all the time. You may not be doing anything wrong, but it doesn't make it right for your privacy to be violated. I can tell you from personal experience that delay tactics like that are very often used to get the other party to tire physically, emotionally, or financially enough to drop/settle the case when they really should not.

I don't blame you for being upset about being spied upon, but I don't blame the insurance company (I'm guessing they are are party to the defense) for doing it.

Unfortunately, there are too many freeloaders, frauds, and cheats out there-- which ruin it for those legitamately hurt or disabled.

lol yes, that is sort of my goal, I want to see if I am good enough to detect their spying ways.

Someone I know went thru the whole process, and after years of stuff the case was settled out of court because all the evidence pointed to the injured party being really badly disabled and had a good chance to win.

My case most likely is going to be settled outside of court. My lawyer said they are planning to start mediation. I don't think I will have 24/7 surveillance on me, that would just be ridiculously expensive like someone stated in this thread, but then again you never know. I was also thinking that they might plant a GPS tracking device on my car to see where I go, in this day and age that is quite possible.

I was thinking about setting up webcams to my PC also, but I would need crazy long cables, unless there are wireless ones? Know any software that can muster 2-3 webcams?
