Dude's a brilliant neurosurgeon with vast knowledge of public health challenges in a very public position. I'd love to hear the whiners' explanations on why he wouldn't make a great SG.

It's funny because it's true.

What is it about this election that turned every republican into raving conspiracy theorists?

Obama's past and his motives means you should examine his decisions and not take it at face value. And there is no conspiracy - he's just paying back the network that got him elected. You can't watch CNN for 2 minutes without some sort of hussein stroking going on.

It hasn't turned every republican into a raving moonbat - what you're seeing are just the moonbats that think they're republicans that are carrying on like a bunch of silly little bitches....

Unless the real conservatives take control of their party and quit allowing the nutball wackaloons to take center stage - then they should start enjoy being left in the backseat....

What did GWB do to the Surgeon General post? I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't know the name or ANYTHING about the current SG.

Wait, you think that Spidey07 just started acting crazy now? Go read his posts over the last year or two.

I read a biography of him many years back. A wonderful man, and an American hero in many ways.

Since Sanjay would no longer be a CNN employee, how does this help them? Cut of his salary, perhaps?

Do you even stop to think about the nonsense you write?

No, usually I don't. :D

CNN gets loses more then they gain from this. Yes, they can brag about it for a couple days, but they are losing one of their best and most respected journalists. It's not like Sanjay Gupta is going to be supporting a pro-CNN agenda while surgeon general.

Same thing that made Dems CT's the last 8 years i.e. a need to vilify the opponent?

As to the pick, after browsing his qualifications, and with the role of the Surgeon General in mind, I think he is perfect for the job.

IIRC (and I admit I have no sources on this), GWB appointed a political hack whose job it was to promote "abstinence-only" sexual education and other aspects of the right-wing ultra-Christian agenda. Whoever the current Surgeon General was, he was certainly doing a heckuva job.

I don't remember the dems doing anything along the lines of manufacturing massive mainstream media conspiracies, questioning Bush's religion, claiming he was born outside the US, accusing Laura of being a white supremacist, or that Bush was in cahoots with terrorists.

Maybe that's just me though.

No medical marijuana, cause people who smoke marijuana get stoned.

He's so bad, he even quotes something any legitimate doctor should cringe at:

As Dr. Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, puts it, "Numerous deleterious health consequences are associated with [marijuana's] short- and long-term use, including the possibility of becoming addicted."

It's neither funny nor true. I invite you give a logical explanation for how CNN benefits from this.

As a matter of fact, it hurts CNN more than it helps them. Tell me, do you think that Obama hiring Oprah onto his staff would help or hurts ABC?

It benefits CNN because now they have somebody inside on the administration and Gupta can give all the juicy stories exclusively to CNN. He may not be employed by the communist news network anymore but you can bet he'll still collaborate.

Think man, think.

Have you run out of tinfoil?

That's why I don't like him. Not just for this particular issue, but he has always seemed eager to repeat whatever he's told to by government or business as gospel. But I guess we shouldn't expect more from news reporter.

Why, it's Rear Admiral Steven K. Galson; didn't everyone know that?
