Surf the internet anonymously. How much does Torpark cost? IT'S FREE

Um.... Why would you suggest banning him?

Torpark is a FREE browser that has been reviewed all across the internet. It is free, he has a direct link to the download website, and even if it is a "free" promotion, the product is useful for a lot of people.

It would be a hot deal if I could use USB keys at work.

Hey that is cool...glad you shared it.

Now I just need to find a hot deal on a USB drive. HMMmm...actually I dont have any USB ports on my computer 🙁 I think I need to find a hot deal on some new PC parts.

Thank you, OP. I hadn't heard of this, but will like using it for security when I go to school or the library. Geez, I've paid decent money for anonymizer-style programs that didn't work very well. This looks like a hot deal to me.

Wow...I read up on it and this was co-released with the cult of the dead cow? Apparently cDc is all into crytography for the internet in some big anti-censorship push.
While reading about this on wikipedia I also found out that l0pht is now part of Symantec!?!? Like...huh?!!?

Seriously this is really weird for me to read since back in high school (in the late 90's) cDc was known more for having made the most popular trojan horse of the day, and l0pht was known for having made one of the best password crackers for windows (although even then I think l0pht had a pretty white hat rep). But like...now they're all totally legit and part of Symantec and totally corporate?!?

When the hell did all the hackers decide to become human rights activists and Symantec employees. I almost feel like I've really gotten old just because they've gotten old and given up on doing the stupid crap you do when you're a young hacker.

Dammit, where's the next generation of scrappy hackers out there figuring out how to tone-dial for free from payphones or even writing a password cracking program. I'm not saying that illegal activity is good, but seriously when the hell did all the hackers stop breaking into computer systems and start...uhh...making anonymizing browsers and security software for symantec?!

Yeah I know a lot of this crap happened a bazillion years ago but I haven't really kept up on the hacker world, so it's just a little odd to finally look at the same hackers again and find they're part of Symantec lol.

Like...yeah like that movie Hackers. Yes it was hella stupid/bad, but back when I was in high school the hacker culture actually still sorta resembled that (seriously, down to the pants). No, not as far as the really bad 3D unix operating system and the "stacks" having lightening flying around (oh god that was horrible). But still, the movie got some of it right. After all, they filmed it in the right place (ok ok they filmed it at my high school which is probably why it kinda reminds me more of the hacker crowd at my high school ok?). My point is that, sure they did lots of stupid illegal stuff back then like the movie did lots of stupidly bad stuff-but they were also kinda what all the younger kids were kinda looking up to and trying to follow in the footsteps of (no I'm not talking about myself-but I was a computer nerd so the kids I hung out with were gonna be hacker wannabes). And if they're all totally boring now...who are the younger kids gonna look up to be their rebellious and insane hacker role models? Will the young script kiddies start doing bad attempts at human rights programming, or apply for internships at Symantec?

lol

LOL. we all got to grow up. 🙂

im using this browser right now ... very cool!

Indeed, most of public computers have USB blocked, so being completely anonymous is quite difficult. Anyway, what their business model? Do they report about people who are worrying about own privacy too much?

Just because something is free does not make it a "hot deal". If Torpark normally cost money, and suddenly someone was offering it for free, then yes.. But there is a TON of freeware software out there, and it is all appropriately posted in the "software" forum

Ah... ok... ban his ass then. Don't WARN him for God sake, BAN him! /s

Were you a hall monitor when you were a kid? Or an RA in college? sheesh!

To the OP...
Thanks op, looked the software up, made for an interesting read. So I tried it out and it worked! As compared to crappy anonymizers that you have to pay for, this is an extremely hot deal!

Oh, and by the way OP, you might want to try posting this kind of thing in the software forum next time. Some people like to make reputations as buzzkills by flipping out over any possibly errant post on these forums.

torpark uses the Onion "tor" network. You can actually achieve the same results from any browser (firefox even has a little enable/disable extension for quick SOCKs changing) by downloading said software from the TOR site at http://tor.eff.org/.
I might consider it a hot deal since its probably the first REAL Anonymiser thats totaly free and will allways be free (it uses a p2p network of users who opt to be relay links to build its robust relay network). However actual realworld speeds are really slow, most likely due to alot of users, but not enough users offering to become relay stations, so you have thousands of users using a 100 or so relay points.

That said, another nice thing about the tor network is you can run websites only accessable through the tor network, but thats another post and another section.
