It’s pretty pathetic that you’re defining the “decline of the democracy” as being simply any Supreme Court ruling that you don’t like.

No one's right to vote is being taken away LOL. It just means your name is taken off the registry, which means you have to register again.

Unable to vote and respond to a prepaid mail notice over the course of years? Must be really really sick and probably shouldn’t take the physical risk of going to vote then.

Uh huh. That's a funny joke because it happened to me. I was living overseas from 2008-2015. When I wanted to vote for Bernie Sanders, I couldn't because of that same exact fucking thing and also I wanted to change from independent to Democrat. Guess what.. I have to wait for the next election cycle.. which means I can vote in 2020!

I see, so when the law works after being applied as written and upheld by the Supreme Court; that is the “decline of democracy.” Because that’s the job of the judiciary, to make sure that they look after you personally and your particular circumstances so what ever exceptions you need will be made.

Yeah apparently we need 2 more constitutional amendments.

1. Direct elections of judges (who have term limits)
2. The right to vote shall not be denied or abridged based on voter inactivity.

well we could start with compliance with the 1993 National Voter Registration Act which requires states to
Keep voter registration lists accurate and current, such as identifying persons who have become ineligible due to having died or moved outside the jurisdiction. I suppose preventing people from voting in multiple states and preventing dead people from registering a vote don't count eh?
What about removing criminals who lose their right to vote from the registration list? no?

I mean with Counties like Los Angeles which have 144% registered Voters vs Resident Citizens, you might think there is some type of potential fraud??

How about eliminating wasteful costs by eliminating Official Election Mail for people who are dead or have moved? California once realized that 15% of its 15Million registered voters could be eliminated saving $1.5M per election in postage alone ...

OK so you didnt re-register then? Who's fault is that?

Point is, no one's right to vote is being taken away. Its no different than if you move into a different voting district, you cant vote until you re-register.

So someone who never gets the card because it was lost in the mail and then shows up to vote but can't didn't just lose their right to vote.

In the same way when a person moves into another district and doesn't register (which is a FAR more likely scenario than the one you presented) loses their right to vote.

Right?

In your scenario, as long as the person actually did reregister, that would be validated at the polling station. Loss of right not found.

Except someone knows when they are moving while people may not know they were sent a card until it is too late. It is nice that you think items getting lost in the mail is so rare though, it makes you look really smart.

Wrong.

This makes it harder for people to exercise their right to vote, for arbitrary reasons that in some cases voters can't control. Ergo, it hurts democracy. That's why I object to it. The fact that you don't see a problem with disenfranchising voters who might have had no choice but to miss a vote or two speaks volumes about the contempt you have for your country.

But its not quite as nice as the fact you ignored the rest of what I posted. You know. About polling stations getting updated.
