He routinely and illegally brutalized immigrants at the border, he took children away from their parents for purely punitive reasons, and he even wanted to install features in his stupid wall that would maim or sear people trying to cross it. Even moreso, he massively restricted LEGAL immigration, trying to make sure that even highly educated, high ability immigrants were kept out. (his racism is one of his few truly held beliefs, as he's been a huge racist his whole life)

The things Trump did that actually restricted illegal immigrants, he did by EO, not by the Republican-led Congress actually passing laws. (remember, the (R)'s held a majority in both houses of Congress for the first 2 years of Trump's term.)

The solution is, of course, to get Manchin on baord with the Dem program toward wrecking Moscow Mitch's successful court packing efforts as well as undoing those draconian inhumane border policies Trump and his supporters thought was such a great idea.

That VP Harris made it plain and very clear to the Guatemalans the USA will try to help them make their lives better where they were born and raised, while refusing them entry into the USA if they showed up at the border. Among other pluses, that was a very effective move toward cutting off the Repub's efforts at branding her and the Dems in general as "those open border socialists" the Repubs have been pushing hard on.

The Repubs however, will be endlessly flogging that dead horse no matter what the Biden admin. does, as with every other thing the Repubs conveniently make shit up about.

Because we have laws. The immigration laws must be enforced by the government.

Why was it illegal for women to vote? Laws are written by flawed people. You and you alone can decide what is right or wrong. If you have to default to "that's the law," but cannot justify it with your own rationale, then you have already lost.

Further demonstration that the Christian right has no interest in promoting supposed Christian values, only white Christian power. Are we really concerned that individuals fleeing a war torn country didn't enter our country legally? Just the fact that they had to enter illegally is more a reflection on us as a nation than it is on them.
