Sorry, dude, but every post but one I've seen of yours which expresses a political bent *snipped*
Political maybe, as this is the correct forum for it, but not partisan. Regardless, my quite limited post history here in no way fully encapsulates my political views. If you choose to assume otherwise, that is your failing, not mine. I'm happy to respond to questions, and will elaborate where needed, but don't insult us both by playing the tired, well worn game of lumping all disagreement into one group. I've said this before and I'll keep saying it: critique of your own "side" is more credible than the automatic bitches that partisans trade. I don't really care if some readers consider me some kind of faux conservative because I don't share their religious dogma, or apply scrutiny to conservatives where "good" conservatives turn a blind eye to the failings of their own. Fuck that. It doesn't take a liberal slant to notice the ignorance and hypocrisy of Sarah Palin. You don't have to be a card carrying Democrat to have a problem the abuses of power committed by Cheney. Noting the woeful lack of journalistic integrity within Faux "News" requires only fluency with their wares and functioning gray matter. While I ended my affiliation with the GOP some time ago, I still have more in common with conservatives than their liberal counterparts. I would like to see conservatism regain some of it's lost prestige and credibility, but I don't see that happening when others ignore genuine issues and pump up the hypocritical and imbecilic likes of Palin and Bush on the world stage.
I do have a problem with Bible thumpers, extremists, and various sockpuppets - I feel they do a great disservice for the political spectrum they claim to support, in addition to doing and saying all kinds of retarded, counterproductive shit which reflects poorly on Americans as a whole. As far as the "vast right wing conspiracy" part goes, I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't think I've ever typed those words together outside of this post.
I'll be sure to let my Hillary adoring Democrat friends know I've been accused of being a liberal online. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it what with the countless time we've locked horns over the estate tax, gun rights, the military, illegal immigration, state rights, welfare entitlement, etc.
As far as the gist of your comments, you've got me. I have to admit that I agree, although I do it too. But it's hardly a right wing failing, as witnessed by the fat comments about Christie. It's a human failing to judge first on appearance - and to be harder on those whom you consider for other reasons to be repugnant.
I wasn't suggesting that it's the sole behavior of the right, but rather that it's a popularized, standard MO for the right. It's so prevalent, particularly towards women, that trying to do a per instance comparison between sides is completely unnecessary. What's funny to me is that conservative women often engage in it as much as the men (see Ann Coulter, some others on talk radio), but I have yet to hear any female liberal of note engage in the same kind of petty fixation. Interesting stuff.
Thanks, wish I could say I wrote my sig, but it was shameless theft on account of it being so catchy.
