Jpeyton: "More power to them."
"I'm crossing my fingers that we lose horribly in Iraq."

on the military in Iraq:
"their actions so far demand no respect. "

No need to defend me Infohawk, although I appreciate the thought.

I still stand by everything I've said here, but opinions can change.

I'm not so sure about comment #1 anymore. I thought the insurgent's motives were clearly to resist the illegal occupation of their country by the US, which is an ideal I support. This was the same ideal that the US government supported decades ago in Afghanistan, when they helped Afghani's resist the illegal occupation of the Russians in their country.

Everybody here lacks perspective. It's easy for us to label the insurgents as terrorists for not supporting the new US-backed regime because we think we can do no wrong. But flip the tables. Imagine your everyday normal life being interrupted by bombs, tanks, and warfare...tearing up your neighborhoods and cities...killing your friends and family. Imagine your water being cut off, your food being rationed, and your electricity turning on for a few hours each day. Imagine your home being raided in the middle of the night by foreign occupiers, whose motive for this whole ordeal turned out to be completely falsified. Would you so easily give your support to those occupiers?

I am changing my mind now that the insurgency seems less focused on the occupiers and more so on innocent civilians.

As for comments #2 and #3, I said those because our nation's actions in Iraq deserve absolutely not one single ounce of reward. The war was illegal, the occupation is illegal, and every original reason for going to war has been discredited. If and when we leave Iraq, I'm sure Bush will throw a victory parade, and I'm sure I will lift my middle finger in support of everyone at that parade. Victory...bullsh1t. We should be happy with piecing the country back together and leaving it with enough strength to hold itself together. Our country's actions in Iraq to this day demand no respect. Billions spent, billions missing, countless dead, untold numbers wounded, lives ruined. It's like praising a child for glueing together something they broke.

We all support the men and woman in the military

Everyone likes to say this, but there is a certain 17 - 23% of the population who really hate them.

Guess who...

I have never meant a single indiviual who actually wants American troops to die in Iraq.

Jpeyton, or whatever his name is, openly stated his support for the terrorists

Where? Is it because he points out our failure of policy in Iraq and our casuality rates?

no, look at alchemize's post. he highlights his posts quite well.

Yes, those people exist, but not 1 in 5. Liberals don't want troops dead, a$$ holes want people dead. Your statement is as retarded as me saying conservatives would rather see poor children starve rather then provide food at their expense.

Well if all of the a$$holes are liberals...

Don't kid yourself son, every time you post we all know who the asshole is. Kthx.

Here we have a fine example of a Christian conservative. What happened to turning the other cheek?

Did I mention that I am not a churchy, bible thunper. That is despite the liberals love of thinking everyone who isn't gay and hasn't had an abortion or doesn't do drugs is the religious right. The liberal love of trying to make something that Bush does evil!

Fair enough. Now I'd like to see you do the same to every redneck troglodyte that removes John Kerry signs/bumper stickers, and prys Darwin fish off of cars.

For the record, I didn't intend to defend anyone. My points were that claiming jpeyton wanted soldiers dead didn't follow from the quotes. I recogized that jpeyton could have thought that and that even if he did not, other Americans probably do. This fact of limited support for the idea doesn't warrant the support the troops nonsense. A lot of cheap patriots seem to think most liberals more most anti-war types hold this position. I see no evidence for that.

Again, "support the troops" is an empty statement that is usually a placeholder for "support the war" and anyways is ultimately is meaningless taken by itself. I'll leave it at that. Cheers.

So you spent $2 on a magnet and lined some guys pockets. You still drive your SUV. You still get 12 miles.gallon. Did you join the army yet? Did you send body armor to the troops? Did you give up your tax break to pay for the war?

Enough with the fake support, those ribbons don't mean jack $hit.

You would never survive here in the deep south.

And you are an over generalizing lair is what I say. I know plenty of Conservatives, Moderates and Liberals who think the war in Iraq is a tremendous mistake. I also know of plenty who believe that despite it being a trendous mistake we have to finish the job. Besides a fewe nuts here I have yet to meet anybody who root for American Troops to die just because it makes Bush look bad. Hell Bush lwill look bad no matter what since his main reason for going to war has been shown to be a bunch of Bull Sh!t

Is this one of theose nuts you mention?

I donated and helped raise money to buy body armor. Like most liberals I know, I despise the war and I can't stand this country's current leadership - but I have the utmost respect for our troops. Too much respect to watch them shed blood for the frivolous, dishonorable, corporate agendas of our leaders. That's why I want this IDIOTIC DISASTER resolved, so they can COME HOME SAFE.
