SuperTalent DDR2 800 CAS 4-4-3-8

Rafael

Senior member
I am about to buy this memory the 2 x 1 Gb kit.
I am building my new system C2D E6400 and P5B Deluxe, and I intend to OC.
My question is, do you guys think this memory has Micron D9 chips? Any one has expirence with it?
Or should I go with something else?

TIA!

Rafael

Yes it is D9s.

As are these:

Buffalo Firestix DDR2-800/1000
Crucial 667 3-3-3/800 4-4-4
Anything Team Xtreem
Mushkin DDR2-800 4-4-3/1000...
G.Skill DDR2-800 4-4-4 "HZ" only

Thank you very much n7!

I see on your sig that you have a list of DDR2 memory that has D9 chips.
Is this list up to date?
Also you think it will do 800 Mhz 3-3-3-8? I want to reach something like 800 Mhz 3-3-3-8 or even 900 Mhz 4-4-4-X. Do you think it will be possible with it? Got a big chance?

TIA!

Rafael

800 3-3-3 could happen, but it'd likely need excessive vdimm.

900 4-4-4 is very likely though.

In fact, with around 2.4V (or often less), most D9s will achieve 1000 4-4-4, or at worst, 1000 5-5-5.

If you want a very good OC, but don't want to spend a lot, i think the Team Xtreem 667/800 kits would be your best bet.

Ah i see you are in Brazil...i suppose you have limited options.

But the Super Talent should do well.

Yeah! I'm in Brazil! LOL
My friend is coming from US though.
So he is buying for me.
I was reading some reviews and ppl were saying good things about it.
I saw the Team memory, and they seem pretty good also.
I would like to stay in the $290-300 for the memory at the most.

Thanks again n7! If I have problems setting up my system I will look for you! You are the MAN! Replying almost every topic here in the OC forum!

AT pays me well 😉

n7, I have need of your memory advice again. You say that list of DIMMs are all Micron D9. Does that mean they all have, roughly, the same OC potential? If I buy the 667 Crucial will I get nearly as much out of it as the 800? I ask because you had previously reccommended the Crucial 10th Anniversary, but that only comes in 667 flavour over here. Would I be within realistic expectations to run the PC5300-667 10th Anniversary stuff 1:1 with my E6300, even if it gets all the way to (for the sake of argument) 430FSB?

Roughly yes.

Obviously, some luck is involved, but pretty much all D9s reach 500 (DDR2-1000) +.

The 667 stuff will hit 430 (860) easy.

Once you get around 800, you'll likely have to loosen timings to 4-4-4, & around 1000, to 5-5-5.

I have the G. Skill HZ sticks. I have them at 501 4-4-4-10 at 2.3v right now.

I have similar sticks PC2-8000 Gskills that do 4-4-4-12 at 505....I never had tried but I bet with my E6600 and using stock 9x multi and max OC of 3.33ghz I may be able to get cas 3 out of them....

PPl like to bash Gskill but they are proven winners in this PC2-8000 variety and the price was great...hence why Newegg hasn't had them in stock for weeks...

I wonder if my el-cheapo Kingmax sticks use D9 chips... I know some Kingmax modules have Micron chips (or at least have had in the past). There are only Kingmax's own markings on the chips, so I can't tell by looking at them. I have two 1GB sticks and they are curerntly running at 902MHz 4-4-4-12 on just 2.08V. I haven't tried for much higher, since I don't really want to push too much voltage into the sticks.

At this time Kingmax does not use Micron ICs.

Unless it's hand picked in which case they do DDR2-800 at 3-3-3-4 much like I have donw with my Crucial stuff.

Aha. Sounds good, then. The 10th Anniversary Crucial are D9, and handpicked according that list too. So I should be fine ordering them and expecting to get a good OC?

Any issues you guys can think of about using them in a DS3 or S3? Will the BIOS come with a recent version if I order it now, or the F1 and I need to update it myself?

I don't see Crucial 10th Anniversary on the Crucial site or anywhere. Do you have a link?

Guess I was just pretty lucky then. 🙂

They're available on the UK website, maybe they're all out of production in the US?

I see them on the UK site but I have no idea what £164.99 is in US dollars. Would they sell to the United States?

I bought the SuperTalent.
Let`s wait now, and see how far it goes.
I wanted the Crucial 10th Anniversary, but I had to wait and it was out now.
And the another reason I wanted the Crucial was that it is 667 Mhz, so I was sure that I wouldn`t have boot problems with my P5B Deluxe.
Now I hope I don`t have any with the SuperTalent!

Thanx again n7!

I will post the results when I got my memory.
But unfortunately it will take a while to get it here.
