update: It tripped a 6th trap and got away with the food...
But, the 7th trap got it... nailed it across the head. :(
*sigh* cute little guy, but I don't want little mouse turds anywhere in my house.

He's passed on! This mouse is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! He's pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-MOUSE!!
-------

This is annoying! The mouse isn't really bothering me by being in the house. I've seen it twice but was unable to get to it. Cute field mouse, on the "big" side. 2 traps that were baited with peanut butter were tripped and had the peanut butter cleaned off completely. 1 peanut butter baited mousetrap vanished. And, one swiss cheese baited trap has also disappeared.

Normally, we don't even know when we have a mouse, except that we find a dead mouse left as a present by the cat or one of the dogs. But, this guy is a really smart mouse. The first time I saw it, it was about 2 feet from my dog, in an area being remodeled that the dog couldn't get to (nor could I) It's almost as if it knew we couldn't get to it - it just stayed right there watching us for a few moments.

The second time I saw it, it was in the basement. But, it got into the cinderblocks between the rooms in the basement before I could head it off.

Poisons are out of the question because of our other animals - mouse eats lots of poison, mouse crawls off somewhere and dies... dog or cat finds mouse... dog or cat gets really sick or dies.

edit: the reason I call it "supermouse" - it's tripped 5 traps so far and has survived.

We had mice do that all the time. they learn what a mouse trap looks like and how to get the food off of it. And then they learn how to transport the trap without tripping it - thus being able to save the food for later.

..try baiting the underside of the trap trip wit the p/butter. make em work for it. I've seen lizzards clean off a baited trap without tripping it. but it sounds like this guy is tripping the traps and dragging em off some place. new super evolved mouse.

Have you tried glue traps? My dad used them to catch lizards that kept leaving droppings all over our walls in our garage. He caught probably 10 of them in 2 days. Im sure it will work for the mouse.

You also can try filling a bucket with about 3 inches of water (or leave it empty if you'd like to release it), then take a yardstick and a ruler.... put the ruler over the bucket so if you just barely move it, it'll fall in, then take the yardstick and make a ramp up to the ruler. Get some white rice and lay a trail up the yard stick and on the ruler. The mouse will do the rest.

It is using the components of your traps to secretly construct a big people-sized trap, perhaps baited with pizza.

They died. :( But we don't have a bug problem. Only thing around my house is sow bugs. Maybe 1 scorpion I see from time to time.

I leave the lizards alone all the time. Its just they would get in my garage and poop all over the walls. My dad decided to put the traps up, not me. He used caulk to clog the holes one time, but some how they got back in.

Now the lizards are back, but it doesn't seem like my dad cares anymore.

careful with those. Some mice will naw their own legs off in order to get away. You will have blood all over your house and a dead mouse someplace in a pool of its own blood if that happens.

I'll have to try that next. He seems to like peanut butter more than cheese... or perhaps it simply has a stronger odor. But, with the adhesive trap, I can put cheese AND peanut butter in the center :)

Then again, this mouse would probably just stick his feet through, and carry off my adhesive trap to use as wall-paper in his little mouse hide-away, wherever that is.

Nah. His entire body will actually get stuck to it.

Thank you for restoring my sanity! I *knew* I had seen this problem somewhere before! I've seen mousetraps used at a friend's house. I've seen mousetraps used at a place where I used to work. I had never before, except in that movie, heard of mice who survive a mousetrap, not once, but FIVE times! I expected to have a mouse body by now.

For all I know, this guy is building a home gym with these things... He uses the metal bar as a bench press.

Darn it, that's two threads that I've gone through in a row that mention pizza...
ATOT set a pizza trap for me. Off to the kitchen to see if I have the necessary ingredients...

Darwin at work. We have killed all the stupid mice with simple traps, and only the smarter mice were left alive to procreate. So we stepped up the traps, and only the super smart mice remain.

soon, mice will be taking classes at night school on how to take over the world. One day, they will win and we will be screwed. I just hope I can get smart enough to get the pizza from the human trap without tripping it.

its hard to find them adhesive traps around here.. the humane society complained and alot of stores took them off the shelf.

I use them in my basement to catch them jumping crickets that like it down there.. they work good for that..
