superman is a Christian?

If he was brought up by a family in Kansas, chances are good that he's a christian.

And yet he has to deal with his own super evolution to micro climates and the fact that his people came from another world with social backgrounds and a lack of religion.

But "aint nobody got time for that", less social norms, more punching.

Interesting.

Why I was in grade school at a very strictly religious Christian place we had "Superman Day" every year. All of the kids in the school would go to the library and they would show the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeve.

iirc No teacher ever connected religion to the movie, and I never got the impression that Superman was a quasi-Christian figure. For me it was just a fun day to get out of class.

But I do remember that the principal was a very religious guy who would often talk about messages he received from God and communicating with God. Did he believe that Superman was a religious figure and showing the movie to all of the students was a way to strengthen their faith through symbolism?

Thinking back, I really don't know for sure.

Well they do share a lot of similarities. Jesus is a comic book character like Superman, and he also poses the ability to fly in the clouds. So yeah, I can see the connection.

I don't know how you could see the new movie and not see all of the obvious allusions to Superman = Jesus.

- Raised by a father who wasn't his biological father.
- Powers weren't revealed to the world until 33.
- Struggled with doubts about his role in the world.
- Missing chunks of history about his life.
- Seeks council at a church with a prominent stained glass window featuring Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane.
- His flesh holds the key to the salvation of his entire people.
- Saves all of humanity.
