so in terms of the pointex crappiness scale, which is worse - Superbad or Crysis?

I'd rather watch Superbad again than play Crysis because I could at least skip to the funny as hell McLovin' and cop scenes.
Crysis really has no worthy qualities at all.

meh. im just pulling your strings. You're entitled to your opinion. Just dont go around every Superbad thread saying how you hated it and how crappy the movie is (like you did for a while with Crysis)

maybe people shouldn't make 50000 posts of the same topic then? if the thread is there, isn't there to be posted in?

I haven't seen the movie because I tend to avoid mindless shock-humor films at all costs. I constantly get told how I have no sense of humor because I didn't think 40 Year Old Virgin (which I was guilted into watching) was 'the best movie ever.' In my opinion these films cater to the lowest common denominator and are about as 'subtle and witty' as someone trying to open a bottle with a sledgehammer.

Art is subjective obviously and if you like this kind of thing then more power to you.. but have the same respect not to knock people who don't find a constant stream of dick jokes to be ultra hilarious and fresh.

Oh, and the dick drawings at the beginning I found funny. Although most people don't...

there were dick drawings at the end too... a lot. i stayed, it was worth it. now if someone would just compile them into a book i'd be buying it.

There's a shock 😛

I'm with ponti and Plat on this one. I haven't seen Super Bad yet, but I support the reasons why they don't like it. I actually liked 40 year-old Virgin more than I thought I would, but there was also a decent amount of non-cheap humor.

Lines like "The funny thing about my cock is that it's on my back" are not original, and not very funny. in doses I can tolerate that kind of stuff, but if that sums up the movie...pass. honestly, what does this do that "Dazed and Confused" and the "American Pie" flicks didn't do?

of course, I'll probably see it at some point to give it a more honest verdict.

What exactly do some of you guys expect from a movie like Superbad? Plot summary: Three loser high school seniors (1 nerd, 1 geek, 1 fat) need to score some booze for a party (to impress some hot girls). Shit happens.

It's an excellent entry in the genre and I laughed all the way through. This is not supposed to be a Dr. Strangelove - it's a teen comedy that banks entirely on perverse, crude humor and it delivers.

you poor, poor repressed girl 🙁

the dicks were historic figures, people in the news today... characters. it's funny seeing people drawn as dicks.

It's like The Stoned Age, with younger characters.

people dont like to be 'on' 24/7, mindless humor is good for relaxing your body and mind, you dont have to think about it. Which is a relief for those of us who have jobs that have constant demands on our minds and problem solving.

lol.

What would ATOT be without the useless posts of Pontifex?

C'mon pontifex, why create a thread about a movie that's been out for what, half a year now? If you wanted to state your opinion, search for any thread about Superbad that's already been made.

And yes, a majority of your threads are about how crappy your life is or job or a movie or game. You must have the most depressing life.

26? 27 yrs old? making 35k/yr? Living alone in a city with no friends and making excuses as to why you can't meet people so you end up making completely dumb threads and always having a negative tone/attitude about whatever it is you're posting about?

That about sums it up doesn't it?

I thought the very opposite...I thought the parts with the cops and McLovin sucked...the rest was prett good. Different strokes...

i knew that was what the movie was about. i knew it was going to be simple dumb humor. i the previews looked funny. i didn't know that it would be unfunny for 80% of the movie. its the same old cliched teen movie except they went out of their way on the shock factor. when they do that, the movie tends to suck because.

shock value just for the sake of shock value is not funny.

Wow, are you actually butt-hurt over someone insulting a movie? Just a tad bit defensive, don't you think?

That's what I thought too. I went to that movie thinking it would be stupid funny, like Anchorman, but I found it to be just stupid. It was so bad, I left the theatre for at least 10 minutes to take a phone call from my older brother. If I wasn't with friends who were enjoying it, I would have walked out and gone to the box office and demanded my money back.

there's generally no use in trying to change opinions, but the movie (and that quote in particular) seems largely misunderstood by pontifex and others.

for example, the line "The funny thing about my cock is that it's on my back" was not the actual funny part of that scene. the "joke" was that he said it to a girl he wanted to impress, but since his social life is almost 100% spent in his friend's basement, terrible things like that slip out of his mouth.

i think superbad is one of the most honest and hilarious teen comedies that i've seen.

It was one of those movies for me that brought back memories of high school......mmmm

You all know each of us was exactly like they all were

Just FYI, his back was on his cock.

"You scratch our backs, we'll scratch yours"
"Well, the funny thing about my back is that it's located on my cock"

😀

Exactly! That joke made me laugh not because the actual line was funny, it was the situation and the delivery that made it funny.

Seen some of his other posts in various threads, much of the same. Deep seated psychological issues, I think he needs a hug.

well also, you guys have the quote backwards so it doesn't even mean what is really said ...

it's "the funny thing about my back is that it's on my cock" in reference to the chick saying "if you scratch my back i'll scratch yours."
