the japanes blog translation says its goign to be 4,900 yen, which is about $55 USD...

hardly the 'bargain price' they promised us.

regardless, this will be bought day 1 by me.

All the places you can pre-order it at (amazon, gamestop, newegg) have it for ~$40.

Know anything about the collector's edition?

As Penny said it's going to be $40. If you don't believe me pre-order it now at Amazon as they have a low price guarantee, the max you'd pay is like $39.95 or whatever they have it for.

Not a "bargain" price but I suppose it's not too bad.

I ordered the first SFIV yesterday, got a Hori RAP EX-SE in and I figured I might as well give it a whirl. Man...I suck with with an arcade stick.

This is a must-buy for me, it's just a matter of when and for what system. I already have SFIV for the 360, and they say there is some sort of bonus for owners of the original SFIV, but that hasn't been announced yet, and the standard 360 controller is pretty poor for fighters, whereas the PS3 controller is pretty decent. I don't feel like paying $40+ just for a special controller for one game, so I am leaning towards the PS3 version, but...

no pad is pretty decent for fighters.

joystick all the way!

:p

P.S. that is good to know about the price, I just found it strange they announced it will be 4,900 yen when released in japan.

That's because Japan is getting Super Duper Street Fighter IV Alpha EX HD Hyper Fighting with an extra 241 characters.

The PS3 pad is definitely a lot better than the 360 pad, but a stick is really unbeatable. It's only one game, but if you play it a lot it is worth it to get a stick.

Okay that's my pitch. You can always wait until they say what the bonus is and go from there.

I mainly play Tekken 6 and I hope to get into SFIV so I went ahead and bought a stick. Nabbed a HRAP EX-SE (the newest version) on fleabay at a really good price, it's alot of fun but it's really tough to get used to.

Just because they've done it before doesn't mean they should do it again. In the current days of DLC and such there's less of a reason to release a full new game with minimal change.

If that were the case EA would be out of business, their bread and butter is basically releasing the same sports game each year with a new cover and roster updates. Compared to EA, Capcom has done more to add to this game. None of us has to buy these games so if you don't feel it's worth it, vote with your wallet.

Probably something like extra costumes or an emblem next to your name. I'm guessing it won't be stellar.

People talk about getting an arcade stick. But the spending does not stop there. If you get an arcade stick, you need to get a table for it so as to not ruin your expensive coffee table. Then you have to invest in nails, glues, etc... It all adds up rather quickly if you want to have a good experience.

Really? Mine plays fine in my lap. Or if I did put it on my coffee table A) it's got rubber feet on the bottom to keep it from sliding or marking up said table and B) it's heavy enough that you wouldn't have any need of binding it to the table.

I've only ever played with the arcade stick on my lap. That way my arms go straight down and the elbow is bent at a 90ish degree angle. I believe that is a more ergonomic way of doing it (seems to me that there is a clear analog between comfortably using a keyboard/mouse and comfortably using a fighting stick). If I used a table, then the my arms would be stretched out more and that would get tiring.

EDIT: Hooray post 6000!

You say that like I'm okay with EA doing it... I'm not. I can't stand these quick 'sequels' that barely offer enough new game to justify cost regardless of what game and who makes them.

playing the CPU wont make you better at that game in all honesty. if anything it will hinder your learning because the CPU uses tactics that aren't realistic for a human player do to, and you cant play mind games w/the CPU, which is the most fundamental part of advancing in the game.

i'd just practice in training mode then go online and face humans.

I've been playing online as well...I've not quite got all the moves down. As for going online and such, I want to unlock the other characters. Heck, I don't even have Akuma yet. How do I unlock him? I fought him once when I first got the game last March and lost. I played again with Ryu and went through the game without using a continue, didn't face him though.
