Super Paper Mario

Ok, I think I'm getting old.

I got this game from gamefly and I've played it for about an hour. Up until the part where you control Peach for a minute. I think the game is very creative and it's nice, but it's way too easy so far. I feel like I'm playing a kids game and it's like I'm wasting my time just going through the motions of playing the game.

I want to ask the people who have played a decent amount through the game if it gets any harder? I'm trying to look for motivation to keep playing and not just send it back to gamefly.

I bought the game and I hate it. I am going to trade it in at EB for a 30 dollar credit for something else. I just bought Punch out on the virtual console so that should keep me occupied for a while.

Yeah they made it too childish. Falling into a hole and you only lose 1 hp, that's really lame sauce. The concept is great though, I hope they will make a same style gameplay for Castlevania sans the lameness.

I didn't like the game that much at all, either. There were some weird camera moments and I thought they'd be a little more creative with the later levels.

Yes it's easy, but I really dig it. The writing is funny and the different abilities/Pixls are creative. I just beat the nerdy lizard guy.

Alright cool. I guess I am getting old. I probably should play through this game but it just seems like a waste of time. I'll send it back to gamefly.

I have a PC, Xbox 360, Wii and a PS2. The games that I've played the most in the last few months have been Command and Conquer 3, Boom Boom Rocket, CS: Source, God of War 2, Rainbow Six Vegas and Crackdown. The game I've played the absolute most of all is Worms on Xbox Live arcade. That is great fun.

I was very excited to get a Wii and made a big deal about it when I finally got it two months ago but to be honest I haven't turned it on in two months. If I did the most I would do on it would be to force myself to play some of the older games on the Virtual Console. I really like Xbox live arcade.

I bought it too.. It's wayy too easy.

Also.. I bought it without reading any reviews. If I would've known it takes 1 hour to go through all the 'click and read this' sh1t at the beginning to explain the story, I would never have bought it. If I wanna click and read for a story, I'd go back and play Dragon Warrior.

I miss Super Mario World-style gameplay.. Where you hold down B and run FAST.

When are they going to make another real Mario game? The last one was, what, 1996?

New Super Mario on DS - classic side scrolling Mario fun. People say it's easy, and it kind of is, but only because we've all played 1 2 and 3 a hundred times over. You can feasibly finish it in a few hours like most Mario games, but then you can play it through a different way, go to different worlds, collect all the big coins, etc.

Awesome game. They made it really easy to beat the game in the normal run through, but stuck two unlockable levels that are much more difficult. They're either 4 & 6 or 5 & 7, I forget, but you get to them by defeating the previous level's mini boss as tiny mario, which is pretty damn hard. The unlocked levels are much more challenging. I haven't beaten either one of them yet. I guess nintendo did this in order to give everyone a chance to beat the game but also give better gamers a challenge.

Super Mario Sunshine was 2002?

I can't wait for Super Mario Galaxy, but I would like to see a 2d/3d hybrid game like SPM, but a platformer rather than RPG.

I like it, it's a great concept. I caught myself a few times wondering how the heck I'm supposed to get somewhere and then it hits me to just switch to 3D 😱

I'm 25 and I think Super Paper Mario is by far the best game on the Wii.

The game is very basic gameplay, but the levels are so well put together and the puzzles are just awesome. Sure the game is farily easy, but the game is LLOONNGG. I have played the game probably 7-8 hours and I just beat level 3-4. I can't say that for most games now a days. I beat Gears of War on Xbox360 in probably 6 or 7 hours total. I've been playin Super Paper Mario for more than that and I'm not even half way through the game.

Also the person who complained about the reading in the game. If you didn't know, the previous Paper Mario games were RPG games. This one is A LOT closer to a platformer than the previous ones.

I personally cannot stand RPG's because of all the fancy cut scenes, the turn based fighting that takes 5 minutes to show the animation for 1 attack, and the games take too long to draw me in.

But Super Paper Mario is different. The text is short, simple, and just flat out fun. One of the best levels with the best dialog was 3-4, when you have to rescue a pixl from this geek frog guy. They make some hilarious comments. One of my favorite was "Do you go on message boards and talk trash about games you haven't even played?"

Any geek would know it's a slash a fanboys in general. The dialog in the game just follows that style, such as saying "teh" instead of "the."

I dunno, all I know is that I'm 25 and I think SPM is the best game on the Wii by a long shot. Zelda is a game that had too much fluff initially to draw me into it, and I haven't played that game in over 4 months, and I haven't even passed the first Forest Temple level.

That game doesn't count. It's probably better if we pretend that it never happened.

I enjoy it, though it is ridiculously easy. The 2D/3D puzzles are fun though, and I like the graphics and the writing. Still, I would love to see another classic Mario side-scroller ala SMW.

Hee hee, Ive been playing for about 8 hours and Im at 7-1. The game is easy but really fun. I liken it to a cross between SMB 3 and Zelda 2, two great classics of my childood. I have it at number 2 on the Wii great games list after Tiger Woods. THe only thing negative I can say about it is that I dont see a lot of replay value in it. Once you beat it, and maybe the Pits of 100, I dont really see much value in going at it again. Collecting all the cards and treasure maps seems more tedious than fun.

There's a pixl for that in SPM--have to beat the cave of 100 trials.

I thought SPM had a great sense of humor... really amusing to play. The game wasn't very hard (though the last level was reasonably challenging imo) but definitely enjoyable.

But it's got nothing on twilight princess!

Chapter 3 is my favorite out of the first 4 not only because I like the old-school graphical style, but because the lizard reminded me of Anandtech members. 😀
