Super Meat Boy

It's on sale for $10 until November 21st I believe, then it goes up to $15. I will be picking it up soon, even though the trial gave me fits. I'm not even a glutton for punishment and I know playing it would be a bad idea for my mental health, but I will anyway. 🙂

There's something about this game that just makes you feel Awesome!!! Each time I manage to get past a level, I feel so awesome. I was having a blast playing throught the Forest yesterday.

I think its a game thats meant to be played with a great deal of trial an error. Most people can expect to play a level over and over again before expecting to get it right. As long as you go in with this mindset it shouldn't be too aggravating.

Just because I know I'm going to have to try a level 200 times before I start doesn't mean I won't get pissed and quit the game after try 40. 😀

I've read that if you have a friend playing SMB, it displays their total deaths in their presence text (EDIT: On the 360). Apparently you can sit there and watch someone's deaths just go up and up as they're playing. 😀

Yeah I get the feeling I will be taking a lot of breaks playing this game unless I want to buy a new keyboard.

Checked out the demo a few days ago, very amusing. I actually found death to be quite enjoyable after a while; watching dozens of little meat boys fly to their death during the replay was amusinger than hell.

I went ahead and bought it last night before I completely forgot about it. Managed to get an A+ on all 20 light world and all 20 dark world Forest levels without much trouble. I think I'm up to around 160 deaths from my 45 minutes of play last night. It doesn't feel like I died that much though because the levels are so quick and starting over from death takes at most a second. You can easily run through 20 deaths on a level and have only spent 2-3 minutes on it when you finally beat it.

One thing I love about the game is that in each and every death I had, it was obviously my fault that I died and not the game's fault. I'm having to ween myself off of my Super Mario play of holding down the sprint button 100% of the time. There are some jumps that you just can't consistently make in Super Meat Boy with sprint held down.

What you say is true. I often found myself actually laughing when I died rather than getting frustrated because of the completely ridiculous ways I ended up dying. It's definitely not a "cheap" game. The levels are well designed.

The only times I actually did get frustrated where the special levels that had life limits. I don't mind repeatedly doing a level to finally get it right, but I do mind being forced to redo levels I've completed only to die at the end.

It's hard not to compare this game to N+ - which I also really enjoyed. I like SMB better, mainly because of the lack of a timer. But I really wish there was an "auto-die" button to quickly restart a level like there was in N+.

It seems like there are enough ways to die that there's no need for a button to kill me. 😉

And although I only ever played the demo of N+, I definitely saw the similarity in gameplay.

loving the game.

i think on level 1-6. i got ranked at 105.. I am trying so hard to get into the top 100...

grrr.. almost there.

From what I've read on GAF, there is some glitch/bug where it's allowing people to get times of 0.00 on the leaderboards, which is obviously not right. The game creators are aware of it and have already said they are going to fix it. You may already be in the top 100 and not even know it.

if that is the case. the top 40 spots were all 0.00.. sweet.
