I guess I'll have to find a demo and play it myself. Sunshine was such an utter disappointment that I'm having a hard time getting excited for Galaxy. I find that most Nintendo games these days just bore me and are largely overrated. Even other games that people have mentioned in this thread. For example, Super Paper Mario.
I was completely enjoying the game at the start... being able to switch from 2D to 3D was fun and made for some interesting puzzles. But once the initial coolness factor wore off the game became frustratingly tedious. Too much running around the city area when I all I really wanted to do was play the levels. Then, even in the levels, I got tired of walking a couple of screens, switch 2D to 3D to look for hidden items, walk a couple of screens, switch from 2D to 3D again, walk a couple of screens, arrrrgh!!!! Excruciating.
I find this to be the case with nearly all Nintendo games these days. They have an initial novelty factor that makes then enjoyable at the beginning, but they quickly wear thin. So, yeah, I really want to enjoy Galaxy, but I just don't know at this point. I loved Mario 64, but that was so long ago at this point and Sunshine was so disappointing.
