I think the last gen reached a certain plateau with graphics. The psone/n64 always looked like they were lacking something. The ps2/cube/xbox gave the developer a chance to make something artistic, and not really lacking. Not quite photorealism, but enough juice to make something look pretty and pseudo-real/surreal.
I agree. I really thought that last gen looked good enough and would rather have more great games then a few great looking games.
It's the only real reason why the lack of HD and power on the wii doesn't bother me all too much. There's enough power to make a superb graphical experience, more power just gives more options.
Art direction > snazzy effects.
i play it in 720p, and it its got tearing all over the place, especially in cut scenes. its pretty bad. the game is still fun, it just looks horrible at times with all the tearing.
I've always suspected that this would be a problem with some if not all 360 games. There's no getting around the fact that it takes more to render at 720p than at 480p. Either you're wasteful at 480p, or slowed down at 720p.
I just have absolutely no faith in anyone's but my own eyes when it comes to judging frame rates. I've heard enough people say that they can't tell the diff between 30 and 60 fps and that their lcd has NO ghosting when I can see it myself on the very same monitor.
Have you actually run it at both resolutions yourself and confirmed that it is indeed slower at 720p than at 480p?
