I remember someone posting a deal for an $11 or $13 case or something from amamax a few months ago, and the post filled up with 2 pages of horror stories from people who had dealth with them, most saying the hassle wasn't worth the price. Maybe they've gotten their act together though, I haven't seen any complaints in this thread thus far.

Even if these cases are crap in the inside, for the price they look great from the outside. Cut a hole or 2 in it for fans and you can make these cases keep temps like any >$100 would. Easy way to save some $$$ for the components.

I ordered a Mecca Black case a few weeks back. My Amex card was charged within minutes of placing the order. A few days go by and I get an email from customer support stating that the case is out of stock. Funny thing is that the case model given in the email was not the case I bought. I shot back a reply explaining that the numbers didn't match. I also let him know that I had called right before ordering just to make sure the case was available. Then I checked the website again and it still showed in stock and ready to ship. A few more days go by and I get another email from the support guy. Seems he was confused about the model number and had sent the message by mistake. The real kicker is that the case I did order is also not in. I ask for a cancellation and found the same case at XPCases.com for just a few dollars more. They have a very good reseller rating and I had the item very quickly. I did get a cancellation notice from Amamax within a day or two after requesting it and my Amex card was credited at the same time. They do have unbelieveable prices, but I found that for a few bucks more I was better off going someplace else. Good luck to those that placed an order.

I had ordered a couple of X-Case window cases from Amamax back in December and had absolutely no problems. $17 shipped each on two seperate orders. Arrived within a week undamaged. The PS does not come with the $17 case. Looks like currently they have better deals on a couple of window cases with 500W PS for $28 or $32 dollars shipped. When I ordered the cases they came in an extra box without having to pay extra. You might want to pay the extra $3 just to be safe. I left off any extras and ordered my fans and cables from BestByte.net. They give you unlimited items shipped for a flat $5. They have 80MM fans with 4-pin molex and 3-pin connectors for $1.25 and rounded IDE cables for as low as $2.49, cheap Neon fans, etc. Back to the cases. Cheap front plastic panel but rolled edges inside- so no cuts, and they worked fine. And if satisfied customers like me responded to follow-up questionaires, places like Amamax's rating would go up. BTW BestByte got my shipment to me quickly, but they have absolutely nothing in the way of cutomer service. I had a problem with a defective light switch in a neon tube kit that I was never able to get them to do anything about. I gave up trying. But I would order from them again just because their prices are so cheap and they don't try to rip you off on shipping. Couldn't say about Amamax's customer service since I didn't have a problem with anything.

For $17 the risk is negligible.
Disagree. Giving your credit card info to the people like Amamax for no gain (likely) on a crapy hardware is a significant risk. Plus not worth aggravation.
If you want a new cheap case from a reliable seller go dealsonic.com.

I'm totally new to cases and building a system...would that $28 case be good for an athlon xp system, based on one of the motherboard combo deals you normally see on these forums? What else (and how many) would i need to add to it (fans, etc) for it to work with an athlon xp motherboard/proc, other than memory, drives, pci cards, etc?

From my experience (range from mainstream Antec cases to cheap Powermax cases), their differences in quality hardly justify the difference in price. I usually work on my computers about once a week, I can definitely tolerate the slightly more cumbersome design of the cheap cases. I actually had to drill a big hole adjacent to the power supply because in the Powermax case, the power supply is mounted upside down. I had to drill several holes in another case because there is no air ventilation through the front of the case (even though there are 2 fans mounted in front). But these jobs are so easy and only takes a few minutes, it hardly justify the difference in price.

On the other hand, my Antec case (which cost me about $100) has one mounting hole mis-aligned. Not a big deal either.

If it is up to me, I would rather buy these cheap cases. By the way, if you are interested in a windowed case, you might want to consider also buy the neon light as well as lighted transparent fan.

Hey guys,

I am interested in the windowed cases. They are dirt cheap (28, 35 dollars). But how do you order them? Are they all out of stocks?

I am also interested in that $19 low noise 500watts power supply. Any body has any experience in those?

I've seen those cases before. They're dirt cheap and really crappy quality. First of all the metal is really flexible. The internal 3.5" bays are really flexible, if you start adding hdds into them, they start bending and sagging and the psu is a nonamer. No rails, thumbscrews, sliding out mobo tray, anything of convenience. It's just a crappy case, decorated.

considering the price on the $17.00 case, if you want to OC, buy a PC Power and Cooling PS, then you have decent case with AWESOME power supply for about the price of a GOOD case with a GOOD ps.

in other words, an ANTEC case + Antec powersupply = $17.00 case + PC Power and Cooling PS.

pretty good if you ask me.

Aren?t they conductive? Seems like it could short out something. I prefer a small piece of cardboard.

Static jumps to anything conductive on it's way to a ground, which eliminates anti-static.
