?I'm totally new to cases and building a system...would that $28 case be good for an athlon xp system, based on one of the motherboard combo deals you normally see on these forums? What else (and how many) would i need to add to it (fans, etc) for it to work with an athlon xp motherboard/proc, other than memory, drives, pci cards, etc??
From my experience (range from mainstream Antec cases to cheap Powermax cases), their differences in quality hardly justify the difference in price. I usually work on my computers about once a week, I can definitely tolerate the slightly more cumbersome design of the cheap cases. I actually had to drill a big hole adjacent to the power supply because in the Powermax case, the power supply is mounted upside down. I had to drill several holes in another case because there is no air ventilation through the front of the case (even though there are 2 fans mounted in front). But these jobs are so easy and only takes a few minutes, it hardly justify the difference in price.
On the other hand, my Antec case (which cost me about $100) has one mounting hole mis-aligned. Not a big deal either.
If it is up to me, I would rather buy these cheap cases. By the way, if you are interested in a windowed case, you might want to consider also buy the neon light as well as lighted transparent fan.
