I agree...

But OP is posted by a sissy boy who thinks he's a macho man and doesn't have respect to friends and their family and etc...

Just selfish self-need: eat hamburger(s) on that day drink budweiser and watch most expensive commercials...

Don't you have a few gallons of vodka to drink and a wife to beat?

See how easy it is to make assumptions?

I am going to the service on Saturday morning (IMO, the important part). This is just the party. In fact, many people are having kids-only parties now-a-days, so I do not feel all that bad about it.

You do not know the first thing about me. Maybe you should give up while you are behind.

The date of the Super Bowl was selected years ago. The date of the Bat Mitzvah party was selected about a year ago.

Who was being selfish?

Although I suspect you are baiting people in with this thread since you are going to the ceremony, just not the party. 😉

Compromise with them and make it a combined Bat Mitzvah/Superbowl party. Big TV, Kosher wine, matzoh crackers and dip...what's not to like?

Your friends are very insensitive to other people scheduling their event at the same time as the game is just rude. I think they did it on purpose.

Yeah sometimes I think people just forget that there are other things going on outside of their deal. I wouldn't doubt that once they realized what event it conflicted with there was at least one face palm. At this point they're stuck with it though and hoping for the best.
