Of course he does, but you don't want him to dispense it all at once, do you? :D:D:D

I'm currently having an issue where when I call my SR line from a separate phone, it rings 4 times and then instead of kicking to voice-mail, it just has a busy signal.

Anyone else currently having issues or ever had this issue?:frown:

I'm assuming you've turned on your voice mail and ut used to work? I'm pretty sure it's off by default.

But anyway, my home number sjust gotp orted today THey had originally told me 5/5/06 but I guess they want a day early. Funny thing is though, my land line still works for making outgoing calls and shows up as the same number on caller ID. Interesting.

I have a similar problem today - after 5 rings the caller is told the call cannot be completed. Up until the recording though, the SR phone rings as it should. I've deleted and recreated my VM box twice now and it hasn't helped.

I have a call into SR support, but I unfortunately don't think I'll get a timely follow-up.

Edit: After posting the above, I tried again and my VM is now working again. But it was defintely broken up until 6:30.

FrankyJunior-

That is overlap, and typical. The day of the port you usually have both working. Then a day after the old line goes dead. I guess it is done to make sure there is not a moment's worth of downtime because of the port.

astrofan-

Just assuming that SR may have something in store again coming up. I am all set for the next 2 yrs., but I know some people who want to jump on a $199/2 yrs. offer if it becomes available again.

FrankyJunior-

A client of mine (I built her web page) has been on SR for a year. When her renewal came up she just jumped on the last 2 yr./$199 deal instead. Then she ported her numbers over. It was no problem at all, in fact, porting in-network took only one day.

EvilYoda-

Ok, with this there should also be a good deal for renewals running simultaneously. Perhaps $99 renewals today?

Anyone here using a cable modem that has a separate port for VOIP?

Comcast's service has a special cable modem mfrd by Aeris designed specifically for VOIP.
I believe Linksys has one also.

Since my current modem is failing, I was wondering if it was worth getting one of these new modems that incorporated VOIP.

Does it provide better VOIP signal?
Sound Quality?
Reliability? etc.
Thanx

Ps: Just jumped in on the 2yr deal.... though I assume that I will not be receiving a free wireless phone. (if so, what are the best brands and what to get)

Comcast uses the VOIP port in the Aeris for their own phone service. I am not sure that you would have access to configure it for your own use. But even if you do, SR does not give out the settings you would need to configure it and they clearly state that they will not support anything but their gizmo. That said, I have heard of others getting SR to work with their own hardware. I just don't know how they do it.

I tend to be a sucker for hardware, but my gizmo sounds fine and reliability has been good so far (only been a customer for about a month), so I personally wouldn't go looking for a replacement.

Called today and asked what promos they have for existing customers who want to renew. The customer support person had to check with someone but came back and said they could give me the $199 for 2 year deal since my first year was almost over.

Wow. Of the 3 times they have run this 2-year deal so far, today has been the most friendly to existing customers and renewing customers.

Where is EvilYoda? He needed a killer renewal deal. Here it is.

The kicker is that you didn't have to send the phones back, right? 2 yrs. for $199 AND the free phones. Glad not to be a Vonager or CallATTvantager these days. :D

Renew now! I just called and they will allow you to participate in the $199 special for 2 years which will take effect after your current subscription runs out. Pretty sweet deal.

That's true - I really like the phones, but they don't work really well with my wireless network. Whenever something is going on on a wireless connection, the phones fade in and out.

The Shiz-

CALL SR right away. They'll change you automatically to the $199/2 yrs. deal, as long as you signed up within the last 31 days.

The deal was extended from the "first 1000" to 8 PM tonight.

On hold 5X.
They did renew two years for $199 & then added a third year for another $99. I just want two years.
In three years phones will be free, imho.

Get this, apparently they do renewals for two years for the $199 as a matter of fact.

On the phone with the Philippines for over an hour...lost count of the times on hold...the guy was real nice but his supervisor was an ass...
Anyway,
1. They can no longer port the numbers internally (although the S/rep said he'd been doing it all along.) I think his supervisor just made a negative exception for me.
2. No way would they roll me back to the two year plan.
3. Let's get 'em!!!!

Edited: 1000504136 was the case # on this call.
I have the feeling that if this call had gone to Canada (as George has suggested) I would be a happy camper right now.

yes, canada is the ticket. I would call them NOW, tell them that you were getting 2 yrs. for $199 extended (in time) but that the order was messed up. You want to get this done. I would go for the $199 for 2 yrs. deal and just port your numbers over with Carrie Barr. Works fast, within 24 hrs. you're done.

BTW, I converted 3 folks today from 15 months and 12 months (w. 2 phones) deals to this deal. I could not reach them, just did it while driving home. The SALES people in CA are very good to work with. I bet if you call them tonight you get what you were looking for.
